Sorry I have to rely on my old unsatisfying answer of "we don't know." I wish I had enough evidence to say one way or the other (and as always, it may even be different for each individual). We do know of some people who got girls after having gained a bit of weight so I do want you to know it is not a lost cause to have gained some weight.

also, keep in mind it's NOT the food that is swaying. It's maternal condition, so if condition is poor, then girls are more likely to be conceived. Overeating is just as bad as undereating (and may even be worse - after all our bodies evolved to endure periods of very little food, rather than 3000 cals of pure sugar and Crisco every day. Obesity is an evolutionarily novel concept and may be worse for fertility than not enough food, because the human race survived for hundreds of thousands of years being able to reproduce both sons and daughters on not a lot of cals.)

Yeah, I've read that article and a couple books that dealt with the subject. It's def. something to be aware of and concerned about, but the fact is that a million other women are eating that way right now and worse and having babies. And the stuff our moms and grandmas did may have just as much influence over our babies' epigenomes as anything we did.
Remember, the LE Diet doesn't HAVE to be about crash and burn, you can eat a very heart-healthy diet with lots of fruit and veg and 40-50 g protein and lower fat intake is actually ideal for health. At 1500-1800 cals, even the crash and burn style diet is really not the same sort of diet as 3500 cals a day of pure donuts. Going without eating for severalhours also helps - there's a study in tne sci of swaying section about this but i'm BF and typing one handed so can 't post the link.
Interestingly, Suzy had a great big placenta (my doctor told me, "you make the most interesting placentas" LOL) and she was my second-largest baby so it may very well be that our bodies can compensate for a perceived lack of food as long as we correct course early on in pg.!!! Hi all I know this thread has been over 6 months but joining in now for bait of advice. I have 3 girls and hoping to start swaying for a boy. Am I right in thinking heavier the better for a boy. I'm probably around the same weight now as I was when conceived my girls. I feel completely overwhelmed with ll this... Husband wants to try PGD in Thailand but I'm thinking to give swaying a go .

Hi blueplease, swaying boy is all about high nutrient foods and eating regularly to keep blood sugar stable. You need a good variety of protein, carbs, good fats, dairy and fruits and veggies. You have the wrong idea if you just think being bigger will sway boy, unless your diet is high in quality fresh foods.

Hi.. Thxs. No I completely u derstand it's all about nutritional value, but was a little confused about the debate about gain g weight. Do you think 6 weeks is the minimum sway build up before attempt. Any advice greatly appreciated. Very overwhelmed but very excited to have found this site.

No, heavier is not necessarily better because both very heavy and very thin women seem to have more daughters and everyone in between has more sons. Before I had 3 of my 4 sons I gained 3 lbs and with my other son I was holding steady at 3-5 lbs above my ideal weight. I don't want anyone to gain huge amounts of weight on the boy diet and I very much encourage blue swayers to add moderate cardio and above all else, weight training to their sway. Here are the directions for including exercise in a sway. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gend...h-genders.html
That having been said, if you are super thin to begin with and have girls, you may need to add a bit more weight than the average person. Also if you're very run down regardless of your weight, you may need to focus on restoring your overall health more than gaining or losing weight. It's not the weight that sways, it's your condition. Diet, weight, and exercise are just tools we use to get our bodies in the best condition before conception because being in good physical condition = more boys.
In terms of how long to sway beforehand, it depends on you. If you're very thin and have very little muscle mass or are very run down, you may want to start eating more boy-friendly and weight training 3 months in advance. 6 weeks is the barest minimum for blue because it takes time to add muscle. Also, you can make more boy-friendly changes in your diet in advance (inc. red meat, cut out diet beverages/smoking/high intake coffee and alcohol, start taking vitamins, 9-11 servings of fruit and veg a day) and then save the weight gain and higher blood sugar eating patterns that can make you gain weight, till closer before your sway.Last edited by atomic sagebrush; September 25th, 2012 at 08:07 AM.
