Those tests are complete crapola and if you had a good ultrasound I would not worry about it one iota. The vast majority of the time there will be something concerning on the ultrasound.
I have talked to tons of women who had false pos. on these tests (way way worse than your score!).!!! Questions??

Thanks atomic!!!! I had my Harmony blood draw today, won't relax until I get an all-clear!

Are u very familiar with these tests?? I got my report from LabCorp today. It says my Downs age risk is 1/162 before any testing, based only on age. It went down to 1/300 after great scan but jumped to 1/140 after test showed high hcg. The geneticist said my other bloods were normal and only hcg was off. The paper also says risk cutoff for Downs is 1/250...but my age risk starts at 1/162!! Does that mean a much younger person with the same results would be scored with a much less risk?
The sonographer did 3 measurements of the neck, which were 1.8, 1.9, and 2.0. The report uses the 2.0 to calculate my risk.
Here are my results:
NT: 2.0 mm
NT MoM: 1.18
Hcg value: 230.4 IU/mL
Hcg MoM: 3.21
PAPP-A value: 1695.0 ng/ml
PAPP-A MoM: 1.29
DIA value: 270.6 pg/ml
DIA MoM: 1.06
My trisomy 18 risk was <1/10,000
If anyone can help I would solo appreciate it, thanks!!Mommy to

Yes, I"m very familiar with them. I'm not going to go over your numbers because I do not think it serves any purpose. your numbers are fine and not even concerning. Those tests are terrible, terrible tests of which I've seen literally hundreds of women get false positives (and I mean 1 out of 10 and nothing like your test result, which I do not even think is scary at all). I think they are going to stop being used within the next 3 years in favor of Harmony, etc.
Every time I know of someone who really did have a baby with an issue, it was glaringly obvious on the ultrasound. If you got a clean ultrasound (and in fact so good that it reduced your perceived risk), the odds are sky high this is simply a false positive and I am sorry you're worrying over it, because it's all but certain your baby is perfect in every way.!!! Questions??

Thanks so much atomic, your words are very comforting!! If I'm being honest I've been a mess since I got the test results and am terrified go get my Harmony results...I've read probably every thread online about high hcg, the vast majority (just like you said) turn out just fine but some don't and those few that don't terrify me.
I already have a special needs child (autism) who is moderately functioning, minimally verbal, and will probably be living with us for the rest of his life...I can't have another like this.
I just pray I don't have to make any very difficult decisions.
(( Honestly....and I truly mean this....I don't care about gender anymore... all I want is for the geneticist to call and tell me my baby is fine... if she tells me it's a healthy boy I will feel nothing but RELIEF........this past week has been pure hell and I don't wish it on anyone.
I'll update once I know. I'm so depressed, I've detached myself from the pg and just don't care anymore...I was being so careful before about everything I ate or did and I just don't care anymore. ;( ;(Last edited by Houseofblue; June 16th, 2014 at 12:15 PM.

THESE TESTS DON'T WORK. I can't stress this strongly enough. (warning atomic tough love coming now) Get your head back in the pregnancy game and do what you need to do to ensure a healthy pregnancy!!
It is a screening test to determine who ~might~ want to do an amnio. That's the ONLY purpose of them. The ultrasound you got tells you a zillion trillion kajillion better quality of data and to suddenly start not caring about what you eat or drink or smoke or whatever on the basis of one of these ridiculous tests that are almost always wrong, it's just a huge step in the wrong direction.
The fact is, you know and I know that there is NO way you can detect autism from one of these tests. Other stuff goes wrong in pregnancies too, birth injuries, etc. and there is and never will be any kind of guarantee, and it ain't coming from one of these tests, that's for darn sure!!!
Please, please take a step back and look at this with fresh eyes because you are worrying yourself sick over something that is not worthy of your concern.!!! Questions??

I asked about gender but she said they didn't test for it??? Oh well. I'm on cloud 9 right now!! I will have another u/s in a week BC they want to check placenta etc so maybe I'll find out then.
