I called my Doctors office and spoke with the Nurse Practitioner about the blood test for DS, well it didnt go well first she basically laughed at me and said my insurance doesnt cover it, So I told her it does I had it done with my last child than she said that couldnt be because the test is only a year old WTH, umm no! Than she said I must be thinking of another test and I said no I saw a specialist and he ordered the test to rule it out 100% because my DS neck was measuring "thick" that was when I was 21weeks so that was mpre than a year ago. I went onto my insurances website and they do cpver the test for high risk pregnancies I am high risk due to Im pregnant with twins. I am going to call again tomorrow and ask her tobput the order in amd see if my insurance accepts ot,or not since I wont be 10 weeks til Saturday anyway.

I work in healthcare and it makes me so mad when people, especially well trained people like a NP, treat patients like they are just another person in line. Their are so many people who may have the academic skills to be a healthcare professional but are completely lacking the compassion to be in that industry.

I have had a lot of issues with DD2 and DD3 and doctors. I always start out nice and polite but it only takes on flippant thing from a clerk or nurse for me to turn into a bear (I remain decent, just very firm and unyielding). I have put up with too much over the years and I DO know what I am talking about.

If that NP won't help you, ask to speak to someone who will or leave a message for the doctor stating that you tried to work with the NP but couldn't get what you knew you were entitled to.

Anyone else morning sickness getting worse?

I was feeling great between 13-14 weeks but it has been downhill since then.

I started taking b6/unisom about a week ago at night and it helped the first day. I stopped it over the weekend because it didn't seem to do much and since then i have felt horrid. I started taking the b6/unisom again on Sunday night and I can sleep until about 3 or 4 am, which is better, but my headaches are horrendous and my nausea is worse now than it ever was in the 1st trimester.

This is so odd. The m/s always diminished as I got further along with my other pregnancies.

Sorry to crash your thread, but I check up from time to time to see how you ladies are doing that got BFPs from the 2ww thread.

Adia- with my pregnancy of DS1 the morning sickness came and went throughout the pregnancy. With DS2 my morning sickness stayed until I was 32 weeks!!!

FX you get better soon!! I am so happy you get to experience a DS! There is nothing like it!! One thing is for certain, he will be spoiled!!

these are the cold medicines listed safe to take during pregnancy:

Guaifenesin, an expectorant (Hytuss, Mucinex, Naldecon Senior EX, Robitussin)

Dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant (Benylin Adult, Robitussin Maximum Strength Cough, Scot-Tussin DM, Vicks 44 Cough Relief)

Guaifenesin plus dextromethorphan (Benylin Expectorant, Robitussin DM, Vicks 44E)

Cough drops

Vicks VapoRub

Not safe to take:

Cold remedies that contain alcohol

The decongestants pseudoephedrine and phenylephrine, which can affect blood flow to the placenta

Thanks for your input. I am guessing since I have a boy cooking the hormones are foreign and I may be in for m/s for a while. I am trying to tell myself its all good, at least things are moving a long. I would probably worry more if I felt nothing!
I start school next week so hopefully a little distraction will help me forget about feeling lousy.

Congrats Adia and businesswoman on the boys! So excited for you guys!

Adia - I'm only 13 weeks, but I went off my unisom + B6 this weekend and OMG I had the worst 2 days of my entire pregnancy (much more sick than I was at 6-8 weeks without meds).

I have less than 2 weeks until I find out for sure if I'm getting DS2 and DD1 or DS2 and DS3. I'm so terrified, almost to the point where I'm dreading that day! For now at least I can pretend that maybe I will have a DD, but in 2 weeks that dream will be gone forever . The idea of 7 months of LE + exercise producing TWO boys is so heartbreaking to me. I love my DS with all my heart and will love these boys as well, but it's a bit of a slap in the face to get two boys out of a pink sway. I almost hope they are identical at this point because then I think I only had one "failed" sway (one egg that attracted a "y" sperm). If I'm having 2 fraternal boys I have to wonder how the hell I screwed up a pink sway so badly to have attracted "y" sperm with two freaking eggs. Sorry, rant over, just feeling really depressed and sorry for myself lately! With twins I should be focusing on their health and gender shouldn't matter at all. I feel awful.
