    Hi ladies

I am so sorry to have worried you all.
Birth was amazing, but coming home was rough.

Girliecat and Dreamsister I have just seen your piccies and what beautiful babies you have made. Perfect name Girlie, really love it.

So the day of the csection I stood in the car park and told my husband I'm not going in.
That he would come when he was ready and I KNew the scans were wrong.
He begged me, and said what if this is our only chance of having a baby.
I started to think about how we had struggled to get here, and reluctantly made my way into the hospital.
My midwife met us there, and she let me hug on her in the OR.
Husband had to stay outside whilst spinal was administered.
I got to do my hypnobirthing whilst it was happening.
My favourite consultant did the section, and we all laughed and joked.
Then she said are you ready to meet him, lowered the screen and the feeling of love was indescribable. All I could see was white glitter and a big fat baby!
It was like a movie, you know the love scene where they first lock eyes.
He had this worrying high pitched acream, and sounded like an Eagle not a baby at all.
Later we sound out that he had been forceps and something had been damaged on his head and neck.
All the midwives in recovery commented that they had not heard anything like that for a while.
They told us he probably had a headache and to take him to an osteopath.
We stayed in the hospital less than 24 hours, and then took our 8.9lb baby home.
By the way I was wrong, the scan was right.
When they opened me up not a drop of fluid to be seen, the only thing that saved him was the fact that his cord was three times as thick, and wouldn't have got compressed in a month of Sunday's 😂
    It's amazing how nature compensated.

After he came home, he fed for hours.
First day he fed for 22 hours. And my left boob is not functional due to tubular shape and some other things.
I pumped that one, and fed from the right.
But it wasn't enough. Like girlies daughter, he lost too much weight and started getting ready this red stuff in his diapers. Of which there were never more than three wet ones a day.
    I was starving him 😢
Every day we have had people here to try and fix the problem, one of them finally suggested formula. After half a dozen strangers watched me feed him, said latch was perfect but that he doesn't swallow, all they could say was keep persevering.
The last lady made my husband run and get some ready made formula.
Baby drank that and expressed milk. In front of her.
In one and a half hours he totalled over 200ml, wasn't sick or anything.
He looked so happy after, and she told us. Offer the boob, forget about The damned left one, and express feed and top up with formula if you need to.
It's been two days since. And he was had 9 wet nappies yesterday, and already one this morning !
No more red stuff, and his jaundice is gone.
We had so much bad advice, I called La Leche League and they made me feel like a demon for even considering not breast feeding.
Sure that is not how they meant to come across, but a new mom with a sick baby is a sensitive creature.

Anyway. We are so happy now and absoloutkey in love, he is our perfect prince and looks just like Daddy !

Sparkles, you are a Star. Huge congrats with your strong, charming little Prince. He looks so gorgeous. I am happy to hear you are both well after some hard days and that your boy is not starving anymore. I was also raised with formula and have never been sick or have never had allergies or anything else. Enjoy the first very magical weeks with your baby.

    thank you for saying that!
I am determined to keep expressing and have hired a new hospital grade pump.
But I know that all that matters is he is fed.
Since he has been having expressed milk, he sleeps and doesn't cry as much.

By the way, my Mum came up for two days.
I know a few of us have Mummy issues on here lol. But I have to say, she's been awesome cooking/cleaning/showing us how to make life easier.
First time in my life that she's told me she's proud of me

I am SO relieved all is well with you and bubs Hun! I know what our NHS can be like when it comes to maternity, and I was starting to fear the worst...

He is absolutely gorgeous, a real little prince! Congratulations!!

Please, please, please, do NOT beat yourself up for supplementing with formula. I tried BF and I was crap both times (I had production issues sadly) so I combi fed both my boys and I beat myself up no end about it as I wanted to exclusively breast feed but that wasn't meant to be. They are both big and strong and clever and wonderful anything he gets from you is brilliant, but ultimately, FED IS BEST my 3rd LO is due at the end of August and I have no great expectations regarding BF - if it works this time, great, if not, I will combo feed for as long as I can

Congratulations to all the ladies who have delivered so far xxx
2 beautiful blue eyed boys who both own my (3 if you count DH!)

Do not beat yourself up at all about combo feeding! You are doing a fantastic job! He's thriving now and that is ALL that matters! You have to do what works for you both- and you're doing that. You're doing an amazing job [emoji8]!

Sparkles what a crazy ordeal for you! I'm so glad that he is healthy and you both are ok. I always was and still am a huge breast feeding advocate, but with my second son we ran into so many health problems and he ended up needing more than I could give. It crushed me to feed him formula the first time, but it also saved him. And I combo fed him the rest of his first year. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy but it sounds like you are doing amazing and have some great support behind you.

Sparkles, as much as the situation sucks, it is nice knowing that we are both going through the same thing with the breast feeding. I cried the day the doctor said I basically had to start supplementing and giving baby girl formula in addition to my breast milk. I felt like I failed, but I have gotten used to it over the last week and it still sucks, but I feel comfort in knowing baby is getting what she needs.

So far though, only the breast feeding thing has been a challenge. The rest has been very easy and much easier than other people said it was going to be. I am not overly tired, she sleeps long stretches and I get lots done around the house and have been working part time from home everyday, I have bounced back physically too and I am even already down to less than my normal pre-pregnancy weight and wearing my normal jeans (in just 12 days!!). I still can't believe I am a mom though...that will take a while to set it. Hubby has been amazing and very helpful and supportive.

Sparkles - I am so happy to hear from you. I too was getting quite worried. Wow you had such an ordeal. Sorry it has been so rough on you, but glad you got it all worked out. Everyone else has said it too, but I fully believe that you do what you have to do to get by and if that means formula - then by all means do it! Glad you finally found someone that gave some good advise.

Girlie - I am glad that you have found ways to feed baby girl and that are working for you. Wonderful to hear you are adjusting well to being a mom.

Everyone else I missed - So happy to see those beautiful babies!
