Beadin - got a similar stupid remark while doing my glucose test today! The lady asked what I had at home already and then said the usual "Oh so you're wanting a girl obviously" which I replied "We'd be happy with either". Why is it assumed that I'm having another just to get a girl. We wanted another baby.. because 2 felt to little for our family and quite honestly.. since I already have 2 boys.. another boy would be the best situation for other 2 because there's nothing like same gender siblings. Yes, I'd love a girl... but I wasn't that silly to think #3 was definitely 100% going to be one! We did it because we wanted another child!!! Oh man.. the joys of peoples comments!

Myrainbowgirl - I'm sorry you have to break it to your friends, that's honestly the worst. I remember having to do it with DS2 (I didn't even want to announce DS1 being a boy) and it's never fun when you know you likely won't get encouraging words and you'll leave feeling even more depressed! We all know how that feels.. all to well lol so you are not alone

Nita - amazing news about baby! Is this your first? Congrats and I'm sure you probably have nothing to worry about!

So I think I asked this once before but now that we all know genders - what have your babies heart rates been? I know it's a total OWT but it still gets my hopes up and down every time! With both ds1 & ds2 it never was over 145.. even when they were bouncing around. This baby has been 150's, & 157 at 20 week scan which naturally made me think.. "could it be..." but today at my prenatal it was 147 so now i'm like "total boy" LOL! Curious to hear about your babies!

I totally agree how annoying the assumption is that you had another 'just' to try for a girl, I have 2 boys and this is my third and that drove me nuts! Because we truly wanted a big family, not just a girl. I was also quite prepared for 3 boys, although I won't deny I wanted a girl like mad. But it had nothing to do with trying for another. If we had a pidgin pair first, I would still have gone again.

The heartrate thing is bulls**t. In my experience (this was told to me by a midwife that had been working 20 years, and I have since watched and believe it) the heart rate has more to do with A) age of foetus, B) How much, how recently and what you just ate or drank (particularly coffee or sugar) C) The babies personality. Especially C. She told me and I was sceptical but then my ds1 was always 150-170 for heartrate and he is super hyperactive in real life, and always has been. My ds2 I thought was around 120-130 but then checked my book and he went down to 110 quite often at checkups, even after coffee! He is the most relaxed calm kid i've met. This one is 130-150 and every time it hits 150 I think NOOOOO not another hyper one!!! GO DOWN GO DOWN! We had a girly nub and were told girl at my last scan, at 15 weeks, waiting to confirm at 19 at the anatomy scan.

LOL!! That's how I feel about movement!! People always say that the way babies are in the womb is just how they'll be outside and that totally freaked me out because DS1 was nuts in the womb - he is such a good boy, but man alive that kid has energy and he NEVER stops! However, DS2 was exact same and moved around constantly and is the calmest little boy ever. #3 has also been quite the mover.. but it took a lot longer to feel. I'm a little worried about having another hyper kid.. but DS2 gives me hope that it might not mean anything. Maybe i just have a super uncomfortable uterus and they are always trying for a better position LOL!

Agree with Meeks on heartrate. DS1 was roughly 130-140 after 12 wks, DS2 150ish, and DS3 140ish. 2 good friends of mine had girls in the 130-140 range and just *knew* they were having boys based on that. Nope...pinkies! Anyway, I wouldn't think a thing about it!
