Can I (or should I) salvage May cycle?

I know this doesn’t really have a clear-cut yes/no answer, but any input would be greatly appreciated!

I was on the LE diet for 5 weeks before our first attempt cycle in April…I ovulated on April 21st. I continued with the diet until 4dpo, but then we had in-laws staying with us for a week and I quickly (and completely!) fell off the diet wagon. Fast forward to today, 11dpo, with cramps, spotting and a bfn this morning, so it looks like our attempt was unsuccessful.

If I begin the strict diet again today, is it wise to ttc this month after being back on the diet again for only 2 ½ weeks (I usually o around cd 17) after taking the past week off? How much damage have I done? I am so mad at myself!

Kimmy I'm sorry it took a few days for me to answer this, one of my sons is preparing for the driver's exam and I didn't have much time to answer questions.

In an ideal world, you would postpone until next month, but as we all know, this world is far from ideal. You can do a lot of good in 2 weeks time (pH and blood sugar drop quickly) and in addition to that, you may not even conceive this month anyway. It's very possible that you'll get BFN, depending on how many other things you're doing to sway, and better to try this month, then wait another 6 weeks on diet, then sway again to possibly STILL get BFN at that point. It takes the average, fully fertile couple doing nothing to sway, between 3-6 months to conceive on average. I hate people to postpone whenever something doesn't go quite right, because that's how people end up swaying for years. On IG there was recently a woman who swayed for 2 years so she could have everything perfect, and conceived an opposite!!!

I would go ahead and try (erring on the side of a stricter sway) keeping in mind that you have to be at peace with any outcome. If you do conceive an opposite, will it haunt you to try this month? If you get BFN, will you wish you had done a less-strict sway?? How much weight do you have to lose?? If you're wasting away to nothing, it's def. better to try. If you're limited in time due to work/school obligations or you're over 37/38, it's better to try.

Thank you, thank you for your response, and of course there is no need to apologize! Obviously, you have a life going on that’s more important than answering questions here around the clock…keep that new driver safe!

After thinking everything through during the past few days and reading your thoughts as well, I’m guessing that we’ll probably go ahead and try for May anyway. I feel like I made a lot of progress during the initial 5 weeks of diet (my body definitely felt and acted differently!) but I know it’s not something that I can continue for months on end. I have a thinner build and, after losing about 7 pounds on the diet last month, I’m currently at my lowest adult weight.
My husband and I are both 31 and were blessed to conceive each of our sons on our first month trying. But given our previous luck, we decided to give ourselves a shorter window this time and need to conceive before August for various reasons...

We’ll see how I feel when the time approaches…(the whole “what if it’s another boy and I regret my impatience for the rest of my life” thought keeps nagging at me)…but as for now I think I’ll continue to plan for a May attempt. Thanks again!

He passed the test too so it was all worth it! Thanks for your patience and understanding.

I think you're on the right track! Best of luck and sending tons of pink dust!
