I started taking Vitex in February. At the end of March I increased my dosage to 1000 mg. Since December I have been O'ing on CD 25. But this month I have been getting faint lines on my OPKs since CD 12, and the past two days I have gotten what I think are +s (CD 15 and 16). Is it possible for Vitex to give a false +?
Also, my temps have been lower this month, and this morning I got a huge temp drop. The lowest I've ever seen on one of my charts (36.1 C). Weird. I don't know if I'm about to O or not.
I seem to have a lot of wetness "down there", but it doesn't seem to be EWCM. I don't know if it's leftover semen or something to do with the Rephresh. It seems more watery than anything.

And yet another Vitex question!

Yes, we're finding that vitex is causing some people to have false pos. OPK. That having been said, you ~may~ be gearing up to O, because vitex can also make you O a lot earlier. The temp dip would seem to indicate that may be a possibility.
The RepHresh can cause a wet feeling - if it doesn't stretch, it's prob. not EWCM.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

So, 4 days of +OPKs, and no ovulation in sight! No significant temp rise. I am getting so frustrated! DH and I have been BDing like crazy since CD 8 because I was getting faint lines on my OPKs and I thought that meant I would O early. But, here we are at CD 18 and no ovulation in sight. So O might still be a week away. I just want to curl up in bed and cry. These 38 day cycles are awful. I thought taking Vitex was supposed to help me?

I'm sorry Momma, there are no guarantees of course and it may still be helping your cycles, even if not THIS cycle.
Are you still taking the Vitex? You may want to stop taking it because it can delay O for some people.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Day 8 with positive OPKs. I stopped Vitex two days ago, and I am on CD 20. FF gave me dotted crosshairs, But I never had a significant temp rise (many of my pre-o temps are above the coverline) so I am confident I have not yet O'd. I am so frustrated! DH and I have been BDing every night now for ten nights thinking we were close to O, and he is running out of steam. I don't know how much longer we can keep this up! Also, the longer it takes me to O the longer it is before we can try again if we aren't successful this cycle.
Do you know, is there a lower chance of getting pregnant when I have had this crazy LH imbalance for so long?

Next month, stop the vitex earlier in the cycle.
I doubt you have lower odds of pregnancy, as long as you catch the egg. Long weird cycles like that seem to sway pink.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Now I'm on day 10 with positive OPKs. I thought for sure I would O yesterday because I got a positive so dark that the test line was dark purple (on a pink dye test). But, didn't get a temp spike this morning, and my OPK was again dark purple.
I don't know what's going on. My cycles have been long since having DD, but I have consistently been Oing around CD 25. I have never before had OPKs result in so many positives. Usually my tests are stark white until 2 days before my positive OPK! Then I get 2 days (not 10) of positives, then I get my temp spike.
I have used these same tests for 3 cycles, and I bought them all from the same supplier at the same time, so I don't think they're defective since I haven't had this issue in previous months. I don't think I have PCOS because I have ovulated regularly in my previous cycles.
I am definitely not pregnant. I had a full-blown period earlier this month, and my temps have dropped and not risen since my last cycle.
I am really at a loss. Any ideas?
Also, have you come across any research that suggests that women with long LH surges have a greater chance of having twins? Would the dark OPK suggest the release of two eggs?
Any advice or experiences appreciated!

Hi Mommasita
I have long cycles since DS3 (between 36 and 40 days) normally oíng around CD21. After much discussion with my naturopath she advised taking Vitex from CD 1 through to CD14 and then stopping. We are hoping this brings OV forward to CD15/16 and in turn shortens my cycle to a more normal 28 -32days. She said she never advises for it to be taken the whole way through a cycle as it can work like a contraceptive pill.

The multiple pos OPK is happening for a lot of people on vitex the last couple months.
If you release 2 eggs, it's within 24 hours of each other, not days and weeks apart. It may be that you do end up releasing two eggs but it may not.
I can't give you any other advice than patience!! I'm sorry!Last edited by atomic sagebrush; June 1st, 2012 at 03:17 PM.
