Hi All,
My pill is due to run out on the 19th July. This would give me a nice 3 month run in to TTC in October. However I heard that coming off the pill the month before you TTC you get a surge of fertility (which I can only assume is good for blue).
So I am asking what would you do. Would you come off the pill in July and get to know your cycles again or would you wait until the month you were TTC to get the fertility boost? (FYI i did the 3 months before TTC with DD)

When To come off the Pill

Come off the pill as soon as you can before swaying blue. While you're right in that coming off the pill can sometimes stimulate your body to make big surges of hormones that may allow more than one egg to be released (and can even induce people who rarely ovulate on their own, to make an egg), at the same time, being on the Pill or any hormonal birth control, can affect the cells of your cervix (and possibly up inside your Fallopian tubes as well) negatively and make it so you produce less and more hostile CM and fluid, which sways pink.
Releasing more than one egg is def. a boost in fertility, but we want BOTH an egg and good CM at the same time for TTC Blue.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Wow Atomic! I had no idea about this...hormonal birth control affects your cervix? What's funny is I have two friends who actually got pg on the pill...and both of them had girls!

Yes, it does. The cells in your cervix and also in your Fallopian tubes, under the influence of estrogen, produce alkaline fluids that aid in maximum sperm survival and ensure that the max. number of sperm possible is transported to the egg. Your Fallopian tube actually grows special cells every month that do nothing but produce alkaline fluid, and in your cervix there are things called cervical crypts which live for a few monts/years and make CM and shelter sperm as they flee the acidity of the vagina (fewer crypts and less well developed ones, mean fewer sperm survive). Birth control pills disrupt both of these processes and are esp. bad for the cervical crypts. So when you're on the pill, you make less CMa nd less alkaline fluid in your Fallopian tube, and the net result is fewer sperm survive to make it to the egg. This sways pink for reasons we don't totally know just yet.
