I know that simply being in the process of losing weight while conceiving helps to sway pink, and I believe Atomic has said dropping as little as 3-5 pounds before conceiving sways pink. It seems like most pink swayers who have followed the LE Diet dropped a little more than 3-5 pounds (more like 8-15 or so, I believe)...but I'm wondering about those of us (err, ME) that have a LOT of weight to lose. Does losing a large amount of weight (say, 30, 50, or more pounds) over a larger period of time still sway pink by the time you actually get around to conceiving? I guess I'm just worried that my body will re-adjust to the weight loss happening over a long period of time, and then consider that it's new "normal," and it won't send as much of a message to my body that it's in declining conditions.
Anyway, I've lost 40 pounds now, with the ultimate goal of losing another 40 by the time I start TTC. In the end, it will have taken me 9 months to get off 80 pounds - with some up-and-down "yo-yo-ing" in the middle there. Will my body still consider this a decline in its condition, or will the effects of the weight loss not be as dramatic as it would be if I had dropped a relatively smaller amount of weight in a smaller time frame?
I don't know if I explained any of that right...does this make sense?![]()

Awesome job loosing weight! I was talking to a friend the other day and she said she had a friend who was considering the band b/c she was very over weight and the dr. told her to try a month exercising first. She did it over the course of a year and lost a ton of weight - my friend said she was close to 300 lbs and got down to a size 10. Then she went on to get preg and with a girl.

I have wondered about this too. I am trying to lose weight several months out from my sway, but have wondered if it would be better to "shock" my body with a sudden weight loss closer to the time of conception? I have wondered about the effects of homeostasis, whether the body will just adjust to what we are doing if we are losing over a long time period and make compensations for it?
Sweetpea this probably doesn't apply too much with the LE diet, but I think that with my DS3 and the IG diet I accidentally swayed blue when I was trying to sway pink. I decided to go on a diet to lose weight before my sway, and did Weight Watchers (basically calorie counting). I lost quite a bit of weight, then stopped weight watchers and started the IG diet hardcore. Whilst the IG diet was restrictive and I was still losing weight on it, I now think that it probably actually signalled to my body that times had improved as I was suddenly getting much more protein (and possibly fat) with all the milk, cheese, chicken, yoghurt etc that I wasnt eating on Weight Watchers. I probably would have been better to stay on the Weight Watchers (but then I wouldn't have my lovely DS3 so I cant really regret it). I guess this isn't as much of a consideration if you are planning on doing the LE diet, I guess my only caution would be to make sure that going onto the LE diet signals to your body that times are getting worse rather than better compared to what diet plan you are doing now.
Amazing weight loss, you should be proud!Mummy to three beautiful little men :
And 2 beautifulboth brought into my life by Gender Dreaming sways on the LE diet.
So grateful for this wonderful site with all the information on it. I am sure without this site I would not have my 2 beautiful girls.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm wondering!
That is really interesting, H&D! I'm also wondering if I'm doing something similar to what you just described here...I'm currently on a juice fast (I juice fresh fruits and veggies every day, and consume only that and water). I'm attempting to do another 30-day juice fast (I did one already in the month of January). It helps me to 1) get rid of super strong cravings, 2) consume a plant-based diet, which helps me in the long run to stick to a vegetarian diet, and 3) lose a good amount of weight while on it. However, I'm worried that going from a strict, low-calorie, not very nutrient-dense juice fast to the LE Diet will signal to my body that times are actually getting BETTER, since I'll be consuming a little bit more calories and more variety of nutrients (since I'll actually be consuming food instead of just juice). I'm not really sure what to think...
Thank you very much! I'm happy with the weight loss, but it's so daunting to see that I still have so far to go.2008

Yes, it still sways pink, because reducing body fat and reducing muscle, reduce estrogen and testosterone. There is just no way your body won't sit up and notice an 80 lb weight loss.
Now, if you're 180 pounds and you lose 10 and still end up with a lot of muscle and fat when you're done, I can't say for sure either way.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

It is best to get the weight off whenever and however you can rather than trying to time weightloss because it NEVER works. Either you don't lose as quick as you thought you would, or you lose too quickly and then try to gain weight back again and have an accidental pg right at the worst possible second (this is how I got DS 4 - I had lost like 30 lbs and wasn't getting pg, so I took a month to gain weight back in a silly attempt to be actively losing weight when I got pg, and of course I got pregnant that month). Plus, it's yet another thing to obsess about and worry over and it adds a time pressure that will not help your sway any.
Great point about the WW vs. IG diet. Not only did you start eating mroe protein and fat, but your metabolism had prob. shifted when you were losing the weight on WW and so your body just clung to everything it could get its hands on. Plus, if you were on the IG supps you got a big boost of nutrition which may have been swaying blue for you as well.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
