    Working out DVDs

I'm planning to start boy friendly exercise asap, just to get the green light from my ob/gyn, but I know next to nothing
My ''work out routine'' obviously didn't work, it was insufficient imo, so I need a good DVD that will guide me for 30 minutes.

I read this 1st of course http://genderdreaming.com/forum/tryi...boy-ideas.html and this http://genderdreaming.com/forum/heal...-workouts.html, and n710 informed me about Jillian Michaels 30 day shred.
Also I see Atomic is mentioning Tae Bo which I'm not sure what it is exactly

Hit me with more DVD titles

Would this be enough " Jillian Michaels 30 day shred" for a longer period of time, let's say 6-10 months and is it 100% boy friendly?

Cathe Friedrich. She's ALLLLL you need.

Used to be she was mostly producing cardio dvd's (step aerobics and the like) but recently has put out quite a few series of weight/strength training. She lifts heavy, so be warned you'll need full sized barbells and weights.

Chalean Extreme is another good one for strength, and P90X (both by Beachbody). I have total exercise adhd so I need a variety or I get very bored. If you want some cardio to change it up you can do some fierce kickboxing to ramp up the testosterone too! I find Tae-Bo terribly cheesy, but there's lots of other great kickboxing vids out there. Kelly Coffey-Meyer has a number of great no-nonsense dvd's.....many of her routines are specifically 30 minutes, and she has strength training stuff as well as some fierce kickboxing.

I love Turbojam and Turbofire, which is like kickbox-lite but probably too cardio focussed and dance-y for a boy sway.

Oh, and if you're a newbie to weights, be careful with your technique so you don't get injured! Cathe is pretty advanced so you might want to wait until you have confidence with your form. "New Rules of Lifting for Women" is a great book to teach you how to lift heavy and use proper form/technique.....worth getting even if you don't do the routines in the book, since it talks about how to build muscle/lose fat and has a diet guide too. A very boy-sway book, actually!

Tae Bo is kickboxing mixed with exercise and I did it all the time before I got DS 3 and 4. The good thing about it is that there's lots of punching and kicking which may send a message to your body that you're fighting and may help raise testosterone. I was also fencing (fighting with swords) a lot before I conceived Ds 3

The Firm is another one that I used a lot and then subsequently got DS 3 and 4.

I haven't done the Jillian Michaels but as long as it;s not longer tha 45 min (the warm up/cool down doesn't count, just the intense exercise part) it's fine.

I'd forgotten about The Firm. Yes, there are some good dvd's in the Firm brand, but some real clunkers too. I like to read reviews on Amazon or videofitness.com (much better for fitness dvd reviews!) before buying. Some of the instructors' voices are like nails on a chalkboard. *shudder*

Atomic, that's SO COOL about fencing! Omg, I wish I had an opportunity to do that. Damn me and my testosterone fuelled urges, eh? LMAO

I was doing 30 day shred when i fell pregnant, its really great the workout part is only 20 mins long and it is 2 mins cardio then 3 mins strength then 1 min abs in a cycle, i had great results after completing the 30 days, definatly gave me muscles. I was doing that in the afternoons and just walking for 45mins in the mornings. There are 3 levels, so you do level 1 for 10 days then move onto level 2 for 10 days then level 3 for 10 days.

(i dont know the sex of my baby yet)

Can you get a bunch out from the library to try first before buying? You may start with one, then work up to a more intense one.

With my schedule, I knew I wouldn't consistent with something over 20 min. When it's just 20 min I actually do it 5 days/week

Try a few first too to see what is changing your body the most
