Well these two articles in The Toronto Star today just made my blood BOIL. Warning, don't read if you don't want to be raging pissed off.The first one really made me break out in a cold sweat at the thought of one of my kids in one of those 'cells'. Wow. HORRID.
And if you REALLY want to be pissed? Read the comments on the breastfeeding article. And here I was always proud of my province being more enlightened when it comes to NIP (nursing in public). Apparently not so!!
These were infants too. I wonder what these twits would've said to me if they saw me the odd time I had to NIP my toddler. Geez.
Now I want to hit something. I'm impressed with mom in the bf'ing article though, considering she's a LAWYER and could've sued the city's butts off.

That's really creepy that those padded cells even exist! WTF??? Looks like something out of a mental institution! I can understand a 'calm down' room like they were describing in the article, with comfy furniture and toys and puzzles, especially if the parents are informed about the use of it (when it would be used, for how long, if child is supervised or not etc) ahead of time and agrees to it. But a padded room AND without the parents' consent?? Super creepy and definitely not ok!
As for the BIP, sigh. So ridiculous!2006,
