    Doppler Sounds

I have a sonoline b doppler. I hear a lot of women get a heartbeat around 8 weeks.

    I'm not one of them.

I'm not worrying myself over it because I know sometimes it's just hard to find this early (even when you "do everything right" to find it).

I did have some questions about what I did here, in the event I get super lucky and one of you ladies know a lot about this stuff

-Swimming/bubbly/watery sound. It sounds like the kind of noise they use on TV when a fish is swimming. What is this? I get it slightly to my left side.

-"Windy" sound. I also get this one slightly to my left side.

-in how many places should I be able to hear MY heartbeat? I can here it down in my pelvis by my pubic bone. If I put the doppler in the middle there, I hear it quiet, but then I can locate a louder source it on my left AND right. Even if I move the doppler wand higher and angle it down, I can hear it loud (source) on the left side and right side. Are there arteries there, or is this pregnancy related? I know it's not the baby because it's slow and it matches my heartbeat.

FWIW, my first u/s showed two sacs and my second u/s (at 5 weeks 6 days) showed only 1 baby and the other sac shrinking, so I was told the other twin will vanish/is vanishing

Any thoughts on these doppler sounds appreciated.

I am no doppler expert by any means, but i did get one for this pregnancy, i found the heartbeat at 12 weeks pretty easily, but only in 1 spot, if i move away from this one spot i cant hear anything. When my midwife checked at my appointment when i was 17 weeks she told me the whooshing banging sounds were baby moving around. I can usually pick up my own heart pulse where ever i place the doppler and it sounds a lot different to babys heart beat which i think kind of sounds like a horse galloping.

Interesting reading your post. I also have a fetal doppler and am 8.5 weeks along. I can hear my heartbeat on either side of my pelvis also and thought it must be my heartbeat. Also about 2cms below and 2cms to the left of my naval I am just starting to pick up noises. Not a distinct heartbeat but swooshing sounds and on the screen a heart flickers on and off but the exact amount of beats per minute won't come up, I think bub is too small. Glad to hear what's happening for me is just about the same as with you.

The placenta makes swishing windy white noise type sounds. I don't know about bubbles your digestive track is in there also so ?

Isn't 8 weeks way too early to pick up baby on a home Doppler?

Rainbow baby--I don't know. It was just on the left side and I've never heard it before.

nuthin but pink, I have a sonoline b, which you can pick up a heartbeat as easy as 8 weeks with. I've seen many youtube videos of women who have been able to (one woman even did it at 7 weeks 6 days). I am fairly petite, but even heavier women have been able to pick one up at 8 weeks. BUT it's also normal to have trouble/be unable to find it at home until the 2nd trimester. sometimes doctors can't even find one with a doppler that early (hence why I'm not worrying myself about it). But it's definitely entirely possible

the "bubbles" is really more like a swimming sound. Liked how it sounds when someone is swimming in water. You can hear it on this video for a couple seconds around the 30 second mark (this isn't my video.)

It kind of sounds a bit like this sound clip of a fish swimming:

    but not exactly.

the swimming type noises would probably be your intestines moving, I noticed that noise in the beginning and noticed it louder just after Id eaten or drank. I dont hear it now as they are getting squished behind baby I think. The 2 pulses you hear left & right of your pelvis (I think) is blood pumping through your arteries near there but dont quote me lol I heard it very loud down there when in my early weeks.

Thanks for the help! Really surprising that my intestines would be so active before I eat anything (first thing in the morning). Could it be because I wake up so hungry? Usually the last time I eat at night is around 8 or 10pm, then I don't eat again until 8am the next morning. I would expect grumbling sounds for that HAHA but I know things aren't always what we expect!

I get all kinds of noise on my Doppler. Intensities make bubbling noises almost constantly. You can also pick up your stomach growling. Lol.

I really think 8'weeks is extreme to hear a heartbeat. No matter what the Doppler says. That would mean baby is ideally situated, the placenta is out of the way, your body is in just the right condition. And, frankly, that is just not common. Most babies love to be behind or directly beside a placenta, meaning the whoosh of blood (prolly the wind you are describing) masks the tiny heartbeat. Or they flit around a lot and you never hit the right place to hear the heartbeat. I have used Doppler with my second two and both I found around 11 weeks.

Like others said, it's normal to hear your heartbeat in many locations. I can usually get mine pretty much on each side, in the center, and far low in my pelvis. It echoes around a lot, since it's so central to your body. I also would not depend on the LCD screen to pick up a beat count for baby. You might catch a glimpse before if you hold the doppler to your ear and listen for the horse running. I found my second son that way, I would have missed him if I hadn't been listening closely (his placenta blocked a lot of his sounds).

But you should expect around 12ish weeks as a more normal time to find the heartbeat regularly. It's easy to panic though when the box says one thing and it's not happening.
