Ph level has gone up after bd... Shall I quickly take some rephresh??!

We desperately need to maximise our chances of ttc a little girl this month for various reasons we don't have time on our side. DH is on day 9 of FR and we have BD twice now, hoping to carry on BD till OV arrives hopefully in a couple of days.

So far I have had no ewcm this month, so decided not to take antihistermines unless it appears. I was also planning to take rephresh, but again because I really want to maximise our chances I have decided not to take it as yet. Before we BD my ph was always around 4, but after checking it this morning it's now about ph5.5-6 which is obviously a result of 2 days of sperm.

So my question is, do I carry on bd this week not taking any rephresh hoping ph doesn't go up anymore (I'm also drinking lots of sprite zero etc in my Le everything diet) and really how important is ph level... i am stressing for no reason? Or do I use a 'small' or the 'full' amount of rephresh now before ov arrives which should bring ph down for the next 3 days?

We did ttc last month using antihistermines for 5 days prior to ov, and rephresh every 3 days from AF finishing but my ov was late and ended up doing a 2 day cut off which ended up with a bfn.

I would really appriciate any help, experience or advice anyone could give me, thank you so much

Combined pH of 5-6 is great! I wouldn't even worry about that one iota. If the pH is below 6 there is NO motile sperm in the cervix - not X, not Y - and so the people who claim they got pg with a pH of negative 342 are all mistaken, their pH went up at some point or they would not have gotten pg.

I do not believe pH matters in the way that some claim and you can read a full explanation of that here http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gend...ph-pickle.html I also want to reassure you that pH hours and days after BD is of absolutely no importance whatsoever - the sperm are long gone by then and out of reach.

Hi Atomic, thank you for a great reply and for putting my mind at rest, I shall chill out and definietly leave the rephresh alone this month.

The essay link is really interesting, it's amazing how you can easily worry about these things and really there is no need once you fully understand what is going on.

I will just carry on drinking my sprite zero and taking as much aspartame as poss in my yogurts etc. (is it possible to take too much of this, which would make it tricky to concieve?)

Also, do you think I should also leave the antihistamines alone as well this month as i no ewcm at the moment and just try and bd as much as possible to hopefully get that BFP

Thank you again for your help.

Well, for the sake of safety I generally advise sticking with the FDA-recommended amoutn of aspartame that is safe during pg, which is 2-3 12/16 oz servings a day (so 2 16 oz or 3 12 oz diet drinks). That having been said, on Ingender they drink WAY WAY more than that, so I may be overly conservative.

If you ahve no CM, then don't do antihistamine. In fact in any month you really NEED to get pg, I'd leave off the antihistamime.

Hi atomic - just a quick question to tag onto here - if it's down to a choice between dropping antihistamine and rephresh which is the better one to drop? Or doesn't it matter? Thanks xx

Depends upon the situation...If you have no cm then drop antihistamines, if dh has not done frequency you should probably keep rephresh, if no cm and dh did do frequency you may want to drop both.
