I had a Paraguard (copper) IUD and it was removed March 1st. According to my fertility charts we ovulated/conceived on the 12th. I know they say you can get pregnant as soon as removing it but I'm still a little surprised it happened so fast. Might be wishful thinking and a dumb question, but the way the Paraguard works is by creating a hostile environment and everything I've read about swaying pink seems to lean towards making fertilization more of a challenge. So do you think having an IUD removed less than two weeks before conceiving might sway pink? TIA!

Thats the one with no hormones, right? I don't see how it would sway.
If it does, I have no idea how because once its out, its out.

The only thing preventing a person from getting pregnant with the paraguard is the copper. It kills sperm. I don't think it does anything to the uterine linen as there are zero hormones in it.

I used to have one of these in and my doctor told me it worked by making the womb think there was something foreign in it that needed to be repelled. As a result the lining of the womb became more unreceptive to anything trying to implant, and the mucous layers thicker.

"This device also changes the uterine lining so that it becomes thinner, and hence, uterine cavity becomes more hostile for sperm and unavailable for implantation of an egg. It also acts as a stimulating agent for prostaglandins that inhibit production of certain hormones needed to assist pregnancy."

You know, that just sounds to me like a chemical or a miscarriage is moer likely if the uterine lining is thin, rather than thinking a female sperm is going to somehow know the lining is thin.
Did they recommend you wait before ttc straight away? Its just like after a d&c, that lining is thin and needs to rebuild to nourish your embryo.

Mrs. Flowers, I don't think that's what she was saying at all, she was just trying to reword what the packaging was saying. If your doctor said it was fine to TTC, it's fine to TTC.
No one can say if it's going to sway pink or not, there's just not enough info. All we can do is guess. My guess would be that it prob. sways pink, I know not how. Maybe due to how it stimulates prostaglandins?
I find it doubtful that a poor lining due to mechanical reasons would sway; it's more that when your hormones are such that your lining is poor, that sways pink. So this IUD would not sway in THAT way most likely, but it may still sway in a different type of way. Good luck and congrats!!!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
