Hi, I am sorry if this is already answered somewhere but I plan on breakfast of a meal skip but have a few cups of coffee (with splenda) is that okay? I don't mean occasionally - I mean daily. Does the coffee affect my blood/sugar the same way a meal would? Similar question on lunch.... If I decide lunch is the meal skip but have a granola bar or an apple or a handful of nuts would that have affected my blood/sugar in the same manner as if I had ate lunch? Thanks...

Blood Sugar/Meal Skip Question for Atomic

Yes, the coffee with Splenda is fine. It can affect your blood sugar, but the thing is, it's only temporary and your blood sugar drops low afterwards. There's nothing in coffee to keep yoru blood sugar up for any time at all and so you have a blood sugar crash after you drink it, and your body then has to burn off some stored resources to help keep you going. This seems to be good for pink.
Snacking on real foods on the other hand, is not as good an idea because you will get some nutrients along with the snack and that can keep yoru blood sugar up for longer after eating. The apple has fiber which can slow down your blood sugar dropping, and the nuts are even worse because they have protein and carbs which can keep blood sugar normal for a long time after eating.
I'm not saying you can't eat them, because you can absolutely eat both apples and nuts, but just to have them WITH a meal and not as a snack. If you NEED to eat lunch, that's fine, go ahead and have an apple or nuts or both (they're fine as a meal) but just that it doesn't count as skipping a meal to do that.!!! Thank you so much. This is why I love these boards better than the IG ones, there are sound reasons given for things. A few more questions again my apologies if handled elsewhere....
Would I need to drink all that coffee at once then or is it okay to spread a few cups over several hours?
How many hours constitutes a skipped meal? Does it matter if you are awake or asleep during those hours?
I have always been in the habit of eating one big meal a day but had started out my day with oatmeal and fresh berries and had a granola bar or apple for lunch. Sounds like that wouldn't work - I really need to skip the oatmeal or skip the snack right?

fine to spread coffee out
however long you can go. no set amount
awake or asleep makes no difference
it would be best to do one or the other. Oats have a compound in them that may raise testosterone so most people drop them!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
