I think the egg lives for less time than that even. About a day or two max I think. The only way someone could get pg in luteal phase is if they Od twice or just got their dates wrong.

No, your egg lives 12 HOURS after ovulation, not days. The absolute max an egg can possibly live is 24 hours.

the 4 day number comes from, when you are charting, you have to wait the 4th day after ovulation to be totally sure your egg is dead and gone - 3 high days of temps after ovulation is proof that you have for sure ovulated and that your egg is for sure dead, and you are safe to have sex again. But it's NOT becasue the egg is alive all that time, it's only to prove that the egg has been ovulated, lived her tiny life, and either been fertilized or not.
