If you want to reduce the possibility of twins, I would take them CD5-9.
It is a quantity versus quality issue. Taking the Clomid earlier will potentially create more eggs, but they may be less mature when they are released. Taking the Clomid later will most likely produce only one egg, but of greater maturity.
However, there are no guarantees and I have been told by my doc that you should think carefully about taking the Clomid if you are not okay with potentially getting twins.
It is also believed that you have a higher chance of releasing more than one egg if you ovulate on your own and do not really need the Clomid to ovulate.
I think if getting twins would be a major problem for you, I would really think about taking the Clomid especially if you are very fertile on your own. I know that Clomid has shown great results, but it is no magic bullet to get a girl and you might still end up with an opposite or possibly multiples.

Sorry, I forgot to respond to this part. Changing your cycle pattern is supposed to sway pink. However, although Clomid changes the ovulation day for most women, everyone is different and reacts differently, so there is no guarantees that it will change the ovulation day for everyone.

If you don't want twins, don't take Clomid.
GE has already answered your q's (brilliantly may I add, thank you!!) but I do want to elaborate on the idea that changing up your cycles may sway. It's not that changing your cycle in and of itself does anything per se, it's that when your cycle changes, that may indicate that your hormones are doing different stuff than they were before. So if you got boys with a regular cycle, and your cycle gets longer, that ~may~ indicate you are more girl friendly than you were before.
The downside of this, is that there are OTHER reasons why a cycle could get longer (PCOS). So you can't just say, well, I'll make sure I O on a different day. It's NOT that you O on a different day that matters, it's WHY you are Oing on a different day.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
