Hi ladies. We just recently tried our boy sway and are in the 2ww. However, now I am second guessing hitting BD at the right time thanks to Fertility Friend and their estimation of when I ovulated. If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate the advice!
I got my first + OPK on CD 15 at 10pm ( lines were equal in color). OPK was - earlier that morning.
On CD 16 OPK was + at 10am (test line was darker than control line) and at 2pm (lines were equal in color), but was - by 10pm that night. We BD around 6pm on CD 16.
The next day my temp dipped slightly by 0.1, CM dried up, and Fertility Friend identified CD 17 as the day I ovulated. OPK was - that morning.
So, if FF is accurate, it means we BD too soon, right? But that fact that the OPK was - by 10pm the night we BD makes me think we actually hit O right on. Any opinions, as charting can be so confusing! Thanks![]()

Ovulation timing...Did we mess up our sway?

From what I have learned on this site is that timing doesn't really matter. As long as you got a good attempt in when you saw a strong positive OPK that is all that matters. Also from what I have seen is the more attempts the better! I think as long as your diet has been solid esp from AF-O and you got a nice attempt in you should be fine!
Best of luck! Also I stopped using FF. It just confused me. I didn't find what it was saying was matching up with what my body was telling me.

Ok thanks ladies! I just noticed on a lot of the successful boy sways, most people BD on O day, which is why I'm a bit worried.

Timing doesn't sway, and you actually have better odds of conception DTD the day before ovulation anyway.
Just for your future reference, you will O an average of 36 hours after your first positive OPK. But it can be sooner than that or longer than that. It doens't make any difference at all when your test goes negative or how long it is positive for. it's the FIRST positive that counts.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

They THINK they did, simply because that's what the old debunked Shettles method says to do. But as you yourself just demonstrated, even with OPK and charting it is impossible to know exactly when you ovulated. People put it in their sway because they think it's what they're supposed to do. But we are getting great results with diet (high 70-80%) without timing on this site, so we have evidence that it's diet that sways and any reports of timing are only coincidence (and totally unconfirmed anywya)
I got 3 of 4 boys by DTD 2-4 days before ovulation.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Thanks Atomic for the information! If an OPK is positive by having 2 equal lines, but then the next day, the test line is even darker than the control line, would you still consider the first OPK with the two equal lines to be positive? Or is it only truly positive when the test line is darker than the control?

It is positive when it is as dark or darker than the control. Even if it gets darker later on, the first positive is STILL positive. Your body detects the signal and begins the countdown to release the egg when the concentration of hormone gets to a certain strength - even if your body overshoots the mark and has made more than enough hormone, your ovaries detect the hormone at a certain concentration which is often lower than the highest peak. (hope that makes sense)

We had one boy in 2011 and DTD on cycle day 12 (normal O is day 15). We tried again that cycle on Day 14 but DH wasn't able to ejaculate. I was crushed and convinced we were having a girl since BD was most likely 3 (possible 4) days before O. Turns out it was a boy after all!
