Confused Do women with PMS syndrome have more boys? (Atomic - would love to hear your viewpoint)

Hello everyone. Hope we are all having wonderful summer.

I just thought i would share some interesting insight i had recently. I tend to suffer from PMS or PMT. I always have but it does seem to have become a lot more obvious in my 30's. My husband notices (and complains) and i too am aware of the blatant ups and downs. Sometimes i am literally 2 different people if compared to pre-period and after-period. I recently went to see a herbalist about this and the most bizarre thing happened. Bizarre but at the same time just caused everything to fall into place and make sense for me in a way; Almost everything i was prescribed aligned perfectly with TTC girl diet and supplement plan that i've been reading up on. It was advised that in order to help my severe PMS, i should cut out salt, caffeine, alcohol, fat and sugar as much as possible from my diet and eat more veggies and less meat as well as start using supplements such as magnesium, calcium etc. I was told that high salt intake blocks magnesium absorption, a mineral that if low in women can result in PMT syndrome. Anyway the whole thing got me wondering. I drew really obvious similarities between PMS syndrome and the TTC girl diet and it got me wondering whether more women who do actually suffer from PMT do have boys. When i look around me, my theory works as a general rule. I have noticed the moodier ladies (myself included) having more boys. I have 2 boys myself. I posted another thread a while back about mother's personalities and the gender of their children which many ladies out there seemed to relate to. Anyhow, i just though i would put it out there again. Do women with PMS syndrome have more boys?

    I don't really get it bad & I'm a boy mom...

But I did want to point out it's not necessary to completely cut out salt, caffeine & sugar from your diet to do LE...and magnesium & calcium are not really suggested supplements here.
The idea behind the LE diet is to make your body believe you have decreased maternal condition...poor maternal condition sways girl....more nutrients means a healthier condition & sways boy.

It's funny though, isn't it? All these little things we put together to try to figure it all out?? LOL...When I was swaying, I read into everything.

Good luck & I hope you find relief from the PMS!!!
Proud mom of 3 sweet boys...
    and one BEAUTIFUL little girl!
    (Thanks Atomic!)

    Guess my nub? LOL...

I just posted an essay on personality differences between boy and girl moms so you may want to check it out.

I do think there are personality differences between boy moms and girl moms but I am not convinced that PMT has anything to do with it. I have heard from pink swayers who got PMT on girl supps and those whose PMT got better. Same with blue swayers, some reported a mellowing out (and actually got worried because they thought that meant their sway wasn't working!) and then those who did feel more moodiness. I have just not seen any trends whatsoever in either direction.

Personally I don't believe that salt, alcohol, or caffeine sway blue and was ingesting tons of all three when I got my DD, after being a teetotaller with my boys and mod salt and caff with them. And I've always had tons of dairy with all four of my boys and my last one was a failed sway where I was taking tons of calcium and magnesium. If anything my PMS got WORSE when I was swaying "pink" with him. Vitex, which is a pink sway supp, also made me pretty bitchy.

So kind of a non-answer, just that I haven't seen any trend that way and it doesn't seem to hold true for me.

I watched a documentary once which had a study showing calcium to help pms symptoms.
They got the woman to each cheese, drink milk, etc at every meal and the woman noticed a dramatic change in their moods.

well...that would really only be a legit study if the women were divvied into two groups and given identical pills and neither knew they were getting calcium. They'd also have to be given JUST calcium rather than dairy, because there are a lot of other things in dairy like fat, protein, Vit. D, etc. I don't put much stock into that type of study.

Thanks for the replies. I guess maybe there is no hard and fast rule. I was definitely informed that calcium would help with PMT so i will try it. It's a win win situation i guess. I am trying to cut down on caffeine and alcohol and sugar even just for health reasons. It's bloody hard. I need my morning tea! Atomic, i would love to read the post you are talking about. I am not sure if you remember but it was a topic i too was curious about a while back. Please do send me the link ) xx

It is called "Maternal Dominance Hypothesis" and it is at the top of this section right now because I just posted it.

There are a lot of theories out there about everything, and I would just like to state again, these studies don't really tell us definitive info about anything. So i would not hang too much on the "calcium cures PMS" no matter where you heard it. If it works for ya, hey great. Even the things that are widely studied like heart disease and cancer prevention have tons of studies that seem to contradict each other.

I go against all the norms lol
I have a dd despite the fact that I'm overweight and have pcos. If this pms thing is true, then that doesn't apply to me either. I would get awful pms, I would fall into a very dark depression and ended up going on Zoloft for it

there's another thread on here where some people with PCOS and girls were talking about it, does anyone know and can post a link (sorry I never have time!!)

When I say something sways a certain way, please understand that it is in no way a guarantee of a particular gender. People smoke every day of their lives and don't get lung cancer, but no one would argue that smoking doesn't cause lung cancer. All swaying means is "slightly or a little more than slightly". People can get boys doing everything girl and vice versa. Swaying is only meant to up our odds and when we say things like PCOS sway blue, it's in no way a lifelong sentence LOL - every person has hope, even people who have had 7-8 boys or girls in a row go onto have opposites without swaying, as we all would if we wanted to "Duggar it out". When we sway it's just hopefully to make that happen a little sooner rather than later.
