It is really unsafe? I can see how the ttc girl diet is, since it is so calorie restrictive, but the boy diet doesn't seem that unbalanced, minus the dairy.

Yea, I suppose that makes sense- especially the higher sodium aspect. But potassium from diet (I don't take the supplements), is found in whole foods- so most people eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables (and even milk), consume a lot of potassium. Sodium on the other hand could cause raised blood pressure, but mine has always been very low- so I can monitor that.

i agree with the too much Na (sodium) for too long. my mom is a BIG salt eater..after yrs she finally got hit with the high blood pressure. but everyones body absorbs it diffly.

If you're not taking the potassium, you have more leeway even with the salt (I think the potassium supps are much riskier than the sodium). But you DO need calcium and magnesium for your health and going without them for too long can have serious repercussions. I strongly suggest that you up your calcium intake to something more normal, and I am living proof tht you can conceive boys even when eating massive amounts of calcium!!

Hi Atomic,
Luckily- my body is loving the boy diet and I am not gaining weight- I think its bc I used to be a carboholic and love sugar!
I agree with you- and IG's recommendation to take 2 weeks off isn't really going to be that helpful in terms of minerals. I think DH and I are going to keep going until we hit 6 months and then do a Paleo Diet (meats, veg, fruit, nuts) more long term.TTC Blue!

Oh, you are totally right, I hadn't thought of that when I first answered this thread but when I read that 2 weeks thing for the first time I actually LOLed...like that will make a difference!!
I'm trying to design a High-Everythign diet that people can eat forever without gaining a ton of weight or destroying their health and that is available in the Dream members section, although it's not anywhere close to done yet. The potassium in that diet comes from foods rather than supps so it is safer.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Getting potassium from foods is easy I think! Thanks for your help atomic. I think part of the reason why we aren't seeing any guys in the scope is because of lubricant. I hadn't thought of that factor.

I think it's easy too. A banana and a coconut water and you're already at 1000 mg potassium! Getting to 4-5000 through food, is a piece of (fruit)cake on the boy diet.
