    Does anyone know....

Anything about hormones and when in my cycle would be the best time to check my levels?
I think maybe that's why i haven't got pregnant, I know it can take a long time and i haven't been trying long but i still want to get my hormones checked cos of my excess body hair.
I will make an appointment with my dr but i want to make sure i'm going at the right time, like start, middle or end of my cycle.

Kris I know for progesterone the standard day for the test is CD21; I believe that is based on a 28 day cycle so might be different if your cycle is dramatically different. I would make your appt for before that day, that way if your doc wants to do the test you're not at a point where you've passed it and have to wait a long time.

As for the other hormones I don't know if it matters.

Thanks ladies, my partner had a few blood tests done a few months ago to check her levels too and we think the first one was on cd3 and then another one 7 days after ovulation...we're just not 100% sure so i might call the obgyn so i don't miss it. I'd like to get it done before i try again.

I would probably go see your dr sooner rather than later. You have pcos, right?

Yep, that sounds right to me Kris. I was misdiagnosed with PCOS a few years ago and remember from all my researching that bloods were taken on these days. I think on the CD3 blood test they check FSH, LH and maybe some others. And the 7 DPO they check oestrogen, progesterone and something else.

Ahh that's so much Bec, I will be seeing a dr in the morning. So i will ask for 2 referrals to get bloods taken on cd3 and 7dpo

btw how do they test for pcos?
My old dr who was a nut thought i might of had it but after my blood test she said no but she didn't tell me when in my cycle to get it done. It was just that day and it came back my estrogen was high. Then i found out that's normal at a certain stage of my cycle!

From what I have read and learnt about PCOS they diagnose it based on symptoms. And then blood tests and ultrasounds are done. When we first started TTC and I had irregular periods I had an ultrasound done which showed polycystic ovaries. And my silly doctor who had no clue told me I had PCOS. She diagnosed it purely because I had polycystic ovaries. I had no other symptoms and all my bloods came back normal. To this day doctors still don't know why I have irregular periods and don't O. Anyway sorry about the me, me, me.

Why do you think you have PCOS? FWIW I know quiet a few people that have it and still have regular ovulatory cycles.

No problem Bec, i don't think i have PCOS but it wouldn't surprise me if i did. My dr thought i might of due to my excess body hair, she said my testosterone was fine so it wasn't that. She was a weird dr so i doubt everything she did with me now. I will get my blood work done and if it shows up anything abnormal i guess i could ask for an ultrasound. Glad you finally got yours sorted out though!!
