    trimethoprim 200 mg

I was given this antibiotic for a uti. I told the nurse I was pregnant and was told to let the dr know. I waited to see the Dr but was instead handed a prescription and told that the nurse had spoken to the dr. Now I'm reading that it should not be used in pregnancy esp 1 trimester I'm freaking out . I don't know what to do

A lot of times they will prescribe stuff that's not strictly allowed.

How bad is the UTI?? Is there any way you can just eat some garlic and keep drinking fluids to flush it out? Or are you in a lot of pain?

I went in to the doctor for UTI in pregnancy and because I was not in pain (just had to pee a lot LOL and I did have blood in my urine) they did not prescribe antibiotics and told me to drink a bit more than normal and sure enough it cleared up within a week.

You can also discuss with the pharmacist if you go to get the prescription filled.

What I would do, is if it is not too expensive, fill the prescription and keep in on hand if you really need it, then see if it goes away with a little home care.

Most of our HT drugs say they should not be taken too. Sometimes it's still okay even though the warnings are there which I know sounds crazy.

No I really shouldn't have taken them. I phoned my Drs and was told they would give me a different prescription. I shouldn't have taken them I'm usually so careful about meds in pregnancy . Now I wonder if I've done any damage

The fact that a Dr gave me them makes me so angry, and they may as well admitted I shouldn't be taking them by changing me onto something elsetrimethoprim 20.

They basically admitted I shouldn't be taking them by changing me to penicillin. I won't be taking those either. I wish I knew what Dr it was.

Thank you cherrim I appreciate that.

Even the absolutely worst thing of all, Retin A, only caused birth defects less than 20% of the time and that was women taking it daily thru the first trimester. plus at this stage of development the baby isn't really getting anything from you, their nourishment comes from the yolk sac still. You aren't into the danger period for birth defect formation yet. Huge (((hugs))), it is ok.
