I had an early elective ultrasound I purchased through groupon so my mother in law could see her grandchild since she doesn't live close to us. I read about the nub theory and tried to explain to the tech about it, but she had no idea what I was talking about nor did she want to listen. I tried to get her to get a good profile picture, but right away she seen something in a potty shot and was sure it was a boy. She focused on that pretty much the entire ultrasound. I am confused because I thought that the only way you could tell at this stage was the nub theory because both genders had a protrusion. I was wondering if someone could look at the video I put on youtube and give me your opinion. Ultrasound 4:21 - YouTube
This has been driving me crazy! I have two boys so like I said I have alot of gender pressure! Is this 100% no doubt a boy so I can start shopping for boy stuff to help get me excited about my third boy or should I hold off?

Well someone on here had a protrusion and theirs is indeed a girl but I did get this screen shot...
However that is the only profile'ish shot I could see and the baby's face is forward so not sure it is reliable! From this pic And what the tech pointed out, I would guess boy, but I don't think its a for sure whatsoever!!!
I'd prepare for boy but there is still a chance I think!

I do think boy is likely but without a proper profile shot you can't be sure. You are right, potty shots aren't very reliable at this stage, but the shape in the second potty shot does look quite boyish. Your tech sounds like an ignorant ass!

My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

I don't think in most situations a potty shot this early is reliable, however your little guy seems pretty proud to show off! Congrats!
