Are there any stats out there about the genders of children #1 and #2?

I wondered if there were any real world stats on how many people end up with the same gender for kids 1 and 2 vs. opposite (with no swaying). Everyone i know seems to have the same gender for kids 1 and 2... Maybe im just setting myself up psychologically to hear BOY at my ultrasound lol and somehow knowing its likely ahead of time will take away some bit of disappointment.

Yeah I think it's 50 50 for the 1st two kids. 50% have boy/girl and the other 50% have two of the same.

It's like 51% boys, 49% girls across the board. Boys are more plentiful, but more fragile.

do those %'s go for each pregnancy though? Or is there some skewing between 1 and 2, then 2 and 3, etc... (if you have more than 2). So, if i have a boy first its a toss up between boy/girl for #2?

Theoretically, you have roughly a 50/50 shot for EACH pregnancy, so the odds of 2 in a row are about 25%. It doesn't seem to actually work that way IRL, since there are so many different things that can sway. Many people's lifestyles are boy or girl friendly, so I don't think the stats line up neatly like a math problem. If you're living a more girl-friendly lifestyle you up your chances of 2 girls in a row, if you're young and healthy and eating paleo and doing cross fit you get boys, lol.

The interesting thing is how little this is actually studied. I would LOVE to see more of these studies, but there really is pretty sparse data to go off of.
