Did you follow a diet plan?
    Somewhat

If yes to diet, which one did you most follow?
I started LE in May & did that for 6 weeks, then switched to Weight Watchers until 2 weeks after my BFP.

    Comments regarding DW’s diet changes:
I found LE incredibly difficult as I normally eat high protein, low carbohydrate & very high nutrition. The changes were very difficult for me, I was often hungry, tired, irritable, became weepy, depressed to the point of having suicidal fantasies & couldn’t concentrate on work properly. My job is very high stress & involves a lot of emotional energy counselling & discussing things with clients & with that combined with the stresses of raising a small family with no family support in our immediate area I simply couldn’t function without better nutrition. Because of this I felt unable to continue with LE & switched to Weight Watchers. I lost a small amount of weight on this (2.5kg or about 4lb) & also consumed diet soda daily. I also ate more empty calories than I had before (eg low calorie biscuits, white rice, plain pasta etc).

If diet was used, length of time before attempt?
    4 months

    Did you skip breakfast regularly?
In the beginning yes, then stopped doing this.

Did DH change his diet with you?
    No

    Comments regarding DH’s diet?
My husband exercises a lot & is very tall (6‘4”) & so eats quite a bit of food to sustain him. He drinks alcohol with diet soda daily. He consumes a very strong “boy” diet & did not want a girl enough to change it – heaps of red meat & salt & processed meats etc.

    Did you consume alcohol?
No – I was a heavy drinker previously & wanted to stop drinking. The whole-of-life negative effects of alcohol were not worth resuming for my sway.

Did you try to limit caffeine?
No – I drank caffeine regularly.

    Any diet details?
I tried to do incidental things that contributed to swaying. I switched to artificial sweeteners in tea & coffee & took fibre (Metamucil). I ate white bread instead of grain. I consumed 1 tsp cinnamon a day in either a smoothie or on porridge. When I was doing LE I tracked using My Diet Diary which is an Australian app & then I used the Weight Watchers app to keep my points low & tried to keep under my 26 points a day allowance. I drank 2L strong infusion of peppermint tea (iced) daily, I used 6 peppermint teabags in a cup of boiling water & then dropped it into a jug of iced water I kept at my desk at work, & drank that instead of plain water. I also chewed sugar free gum & ate sugar free lollies (sweets/candy). I hate skim milk so switched to almond milk for things like porridge. In tea I kept having a splash of full cream milk (I only drink 2 cups of tea a day) & used xylitol to sweeten.

    Any diet comments/Additional info?
    NIL

What did you weigh/BMI leading up to O?
    60kg (132lb) BMI = 22

    Any weight/exercise related additional info/comments?
Prior to changing to LE I worked out HEAPS, I used to run, powerwalk or hike at least an hour a day, 6 days a week. I wanted to continue that while TTC as I had been a couch potato with my boys but once I went on LE I was too exhausted & depressed to do anything. I could barely function on LE. Unfortunately, because I’d already got out the habit of exercising, try as I might I couldn’t get moving to reintroduce it once I switched to Weight Watchers. So my sway consisted of the couch potato method. I was disappointed about that because I really felt strongly that exercise would have helped. My husband continued to exercise regularly, including running a half marathon during our sway. He always runs in Skins (which are really tight bike pants) so I thought this would help our sway. I am also still breastfeeding my youngest child at bedtime & early in the morning. I did want him to wean but as I’d read that it improves our sway I didn’t push too hard for him to stop!

pH before starting sway program if known?
    Unknown

    Any VG potions used?
    None

    CM pH at attempt?
    Unknown

    DH pH?
    Unknown

How many BD attempts did you make for the BFP cycle?
    Two.

    BD dates according to ovulation
I have a long cycle. The +OPK was CD19 so I would have ovulated 12-48 hours afterwards on CD20 or 21. I don’t have obvious ovulation symptoms, hence the use of OPKs.

    Any additional comments?
I had what looked like a +OPK on the Saturday morning so we attempted (I didn’t tell him what was going on I just approached him). I did have an orgasm & did not jump & dump or anything. The next morning I had a true +OPK & wasn’t sure what to do, but as we really wanted to conceive I told DH what was going on & asked if he would attempt again. Once he knew we were actually TTC he got performance anxiety so artificial insemination was used.

    DH info about swimmers
    None

    BD position
On the first attempt it was missionary. The next day it was Artificial insemination. I did so on my back, remained there for a few minutes & then inserted a maxipad in my underwear & went about my day.

    Did you jump and dump?
    No

    Any relevant attempt details?
I attempted not to insert the syringe too deeply & released the semen very slowly. I did this mainly as we had the attempt the day before so I was torn between wanting to make sure we got the attempt right but also maximise our chances for a girl.

    DW supplements
I suffer with hayfever & allergies so I took antihistamine daily in both tablet & eyedrop form. I also took folic acid & fibre, & iron in the form of Florodix as I am prone to anaemia.

    DH supplements
    Licorice root

Overall I’m ok with my sway. It’s not the strongest sway ever but I think it was best for my health overall & ultimately I’m happy with the the thought of 3 boys if that's what nature decides to bless me with. 😊

Congratulations and good luck! Sounds like a mighty fine sway to me. You still made pretty big changes from before so you have a fantastic chance of hearing pink.

I think you have a pretty good sway and pretty good chance at hearing girl! One mom I know has two DDs and is always doing Weight Watchers! Good luck!

Congrats on your BFP! Can I ask, were you snacking while doing WW and was the porridge you ate made from oats?

    My Ovulation Chart
currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP

Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after removìng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic

Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

Maidentomother I was trying not to snack or to snack on low calorie, empty things if I did (sugarfree lollies, rice crackers, that sort of stuff). I used gluten free oats, & I know they are not really recommended on a strict LE sway but I wasn't doing a strict LE sway so I ate them. I sweetened them with equal & added a spoon of Beneful fibre (sorry not sure of spelling there!). I didn't eat them every day, only once or twice a week.
