anterior placenta

Can anyone give me an idea of how much movement I can expect to feel if placenta is at the front? This is the 1st this has happened to me.
Also should I expect to wait longer to feel 1st movements?

I had an anterior placenta and didn't feel movement until 16-20 weeks. All of his movements were very muffled, DH couldn't feel much through my belly.

I had an anterior placenta with my first and I couldn't feel any movement til right around 20 weeks.

I've had anterior 3x!!! Boo!
It depends where it sits exactly but my 1st I felt barely anything other than hiccups but by my 3rd (2nd was posterior) I could feel more (still later than the posterior) this time I def missed some movements but still felt quite a lot, down the sides mostly not really up front. Sometimes I could see my stomach move but not necessarily feel it...but probably like me, you won't have time to notice til later in the day because you'll be too busy with other kids

It actually just depends on where it is on the uterus front. I have had four anterior placentas (yep, that means ALL of mine have been! Lol) and it varies a lot with placement. My first was on the top/front and it really impeded feeling movement because once he was head-down, his kicks went into the placenta. I also didn't feel him until past 20 weeks. My second was a front placement, basically front and center, and I felt much more with him, earlier (13 weeks or so) and lots of movement on the sides of my belly. My third was wrapped around my left side, leaning toward the front and I felt a good deal of movement from her (first movements around 15 weeks). And this time I have partial previa with a front placement and I feel baby like CRAZY (at 21 weeks). First movementa this time were around 15 weeks as well.

So, yeah, it might take a tad longer for first movements, especially if the placenta is right where baby's feet like to rest. But it really is very variable depending on placement and how it's related to the baby. The good-ish news is that women with anterior placentas tend to carry smaller, since baby can hide back in the body further. For me, that means less stretch marks. Lol. (Although I'd give that up to experience just one posterior one!)

I think it's prob. different for everyone, I had two anterior placentas and seemed like I felt it later and less with one pg and then with the other it didn't seem to affect it.

with that you look smaller. My final pg was anterior and no one even knew I was pg till 20 weeks (which I get big right away and that was my 5th kiddo so I expected to be a lot bigger)
