I know humidifiers release negative ions, so I'd have thought a vapouriser would be much the same

Vaporizers supposedly release neg. ions but at the same time water vapor is supposed to be electrically neutral - it's the chemical content of the water that is supposed to make the charge and not the water itself. So it is conceivable that you could end up bathing yourself in pos. ions depending on the chemical content of your water (that is the upper levels of my understanding - I need to find a chemist that can dumb things down for me.)

To be on the safe side, I would only use a vaporizer with a negative ionizer, or only use distilled water in your vaporizer.
