DH and I had a long talk about HT and are now seriously thinking it might not be for us. 2 kids is our limit. so, we get one chance at a DD. PRESSURE! I'm too scared to DTD, knowing that I might lose my chance of ever having a DD. but at the same time, if I don't try, I already lost that chance.
I'm so lost and confused, I don't know what to do. I just want to scream!

I just wish that a magical stork could fly through my window and ask me for my baby order, fly away, and then come back with a DD!
How do you deal with the stress? The anxiety?

It's a highly personal thing, planning a family; and hoping for a certain gender.
I too wish it was so much simpler; but I guess you have to do some soul searching.
That being said, I have 4 boys and am now swaying for a girl; and even though I'm doing all I can really do, I too am a touch nervous. So I get that.

Didn't you post about your mom having breast cancer? Have you been tested for the gene? Regardless, you should have a mammogram before you ever start HT to be safe.

Yes I did post about my mom having cancer. I haven't been tested but I think I will soon no matter if I do HT or not. DH and I are thinking we cant really do HT now for lots of reasons (money, time, difficult to find a place, the drugs, etc...).
Didn't you say that you would NOT recommend HT because of cancer risk? what are your thoughts on that? did you say that because you think that since my mom had it, the drugs for HT might make me more likely to get it?- DS 2012

You should be checked immediately. If you have the gene you have other issues besides. HT to deal with. No, I would not inject myself with meds causing crazy high levels of estrogen that could trigger cancer IF you know you are genetically likely to get it!

Thanks for the advice. How do I get checked to see if I have the gene? I think I am going to see a dr about it, no matter what DH and I choose to do. I am 32 so it seems like a good time to start getting checked out. my mom had breast cancer and had chemo and all that, but it was low-grade and easily treated. she is checked at regular intervals and there has been no sign of any cancer since her treatment 2 years ago. I know that just because she had it, that doesn't mean I will get it, but I think that since she does, I will be more likely to get it, right?
Your advice is really making me think that HT is off the table for us. I don't want to increase my risk of cancer, especially if I already have a higher than normal risk of it since my mom had it. Thank you so much for responding and helping me make a choice.- DS 2012

You need to know if you have the gene. Breast cancer is something that can happen to anyone, it's the gene you need to be watching out for.
