First round TTC pink - question about positive OPK and attempt

    Hi ladies,

This is actually my first post on this website. I've done a lot of reading and I've been happy to see so many motivated moms swaying pink or blue with a high success rate.

I'm a mom of 2 pretty boys of 4 and 2 years old and we've decided to try to sway pink starting this cycle. I've been on the LE diet since the 1st of June. It's my first time using OPK's and I am a little bit lost.

I have ovulation pains in my belly but my test this morning was a negative. I did another one at noon which was a lot more like a positive, but not just yet. I am wondering what I should do with this. Test again tonight to see if we should do the attempt tonight or wait untill tomorrow to be sure to not miss the egg.

Could you have a look at my tests and give me some advice. Thanks a lot!

Hi there and welcome. Yes if I were you I would test again tonight and take it from there but based on your noon opk I would expect you to see a positive in the next 24 hours. I was very lucky in that I worked out the time of day that would give me the best lines very quickly so I only needed to test once a day (I always found second morning urine worked best for me) I'm sure others will give advice as well. Good luck.

Well, I dit test again but it still wasn't as dark as the control line.

Since it is our first month and since I wouldn't mind to wait another month, we had our attempt and we'll see what it brings us

I'm on cycle day 14 and my cycles are pretty regular between 28 and 30 days, so there is hope. I'll keep you posted!

We had a similar issue this month. The test line got darker and darker, but it was never as dark as the control line. We decided to wait, and by the next morning, the test line was very light. By noon, it was almost nonexistent. We didn't BD until that night. I'm now in the 2ww, with AF due on Friday. So far, I've gotten BFNs, so we may have missed it. (I know I'm not out of the running yet, though!) Definitely better to do it earlier than later, so I think you made the right choice. I wish we'd have just gone for it the night we had almost positives, but I was waiting for a clear positive that never came. It's a learning process! I've never done OPKs, either.

I don't like the OPK's, but I would do everything to have a little girl. I will test again tomorrow morning to see if the line got darker or lighter. I'll cross my fingers for you to get a BFP!

    Thanks! Keep us posted!

Our son was a surprise, conceived a week before our wedding. I didn't even think that I might be pregnant until we got home from our honeymoon and I realized AF should have arrived two days before. One baby, none of the testing and waiting. OPKs and 2wws are a whole different ballgame. I feel the same way about having a girl, though, so we do what we've gotta do!

's better to be in with an attempt too soon rather than too early, so as a general rule if the test is pretty darn dark then I'd have you attempt at the next convenient opportunity.

There's no magic to waiting for the true positive, the reason we do it that way is in order to be in with that attempt at a point in time that is before O but not TOO far before, for best odds of conception. you can attempt a little before pos OPK and it's still well timed for conception.

So I suppose my attempt was at the right time? 18 hours before positive OPK? I'll try to be a little more patient next time, but both my boys were conceived at O, so I wanted to try a little cutoff.

@One kid's mama: since when are you trying for your girl? I think it's amazing to conceive a baby without stressing at all. I stressed for my first two, but just without OPK's. Their age difference is 15 months, so I think it's great you try to have another one when your first is still little.
