    Just found out: another girl

I know some of you have way more of one gender than I do... But alas, I'm still feeling a little down. I was hoping my first would be a boy. I even came on here and did a half hearted sway. She's a year and a half now and of course I'm head over heels. So, I was getting ready to purchase a package and do a full on boy sway for number two. Well, turns out my DH and I are insanely fertile, cause I got pregnant a day before the 5 day fertile window (I was temping). I prayed everyday that baby #2 would be a boy. Just found out yesterday that it's a girl. I keep looking up pictures of cute baby sisters, but then I come across a friend who has a pigeon pair or a picture of a little boy and I get down again. We wanted four kids anyway, so I'll try again for real (definitely buying a package) after this one- but...

Someone please tell me how awesome it is having two little girls so close. They will be almost exactly two years apart.

Oh, and the comments are already coming- people saying how they are sure we wanted a boy. And poor DH having two girls.

I have two girls who are a little less than three years a part and they adore each other!! They really do love each other and it's sweet to see. My dh was very sad to have two girls but he loves them dearly. I am currently swaying (and praying) for a boy for #3.

I get comments a lot too and I just say that I loved having sisters and my girls love it too. I've heard frequently from people with both that parents love one of each but kids prefer a sibling of their sex. Mine youngest is 17 months and I still get sad about it and I know my dh does too. Obviously we would never trade her but it hurts to not get that boy. Just know you're not the only one feeling this way, there's more of us out there!!

Congrats on your soon to be new bundle of joy and get out your poker face for the stupid questions/comments.

There are about a thousand women on this site who are SOO jealous of you right now!

I was an only child till I was 11 (and my sisters are 1/2 sisters so not close) and I would have loved to have a sister close to my own age.

I wish you the very best with the comments - I know people are idiots but I think 2 girls is an adorable pair!

I come from a two child family - both of us are girls and she is my very best friend in the entire world! I would honestly walk in front of a bus if it meant she would be happy and I know the feeling is mutual. I had my first son and like you had wanted a child of the opposite gender. I got over my disappointment and we moved on and conceived again. It was another boy. For the longest time I felt I would never be able to get past it, how come I didn't have a pigeon pair and others were popping them out left right and centre!! Then DS2 started to develop a personality and interact with his big brother and WOW I am so glad I have two of the same gender. I quite honestly feel that families with pigeon pairs are missing out! I know that's not fair to say and maybe I only feel it to make myself feel better because I don't have a PP BUT having a sibling of a similar age of the same sex is brilliant! My boys are 23 months apart and are the best of friends! DS1 asked could he change DS2s nappy today, I let him and for once DS2 didn't kick and scream like he does at every nappy change. He was fully contented to be looking up at the person he idolises most in the world.
Congrats on your newest little daughter. Sending heaps of blue dust your way when you do decide to try for you son xxx

I no longer think a boy/girl is the best combo for the kids as the get older, our neighbours are 9/10 with nothing in common so the 9 year old boy is often knocking on our door to play, even if only the 3 year old is home!
