    Benadryl - help please!

    Hi there

I know Benadryl with dipenhydramine is recommended - just wondering where i could get hold of some in the UK and if not, then what to get in its place. Also, im not liking the side-effects of this one - tiredness, sleepiness, dizziness.. I may pass out before our attempt!

    Many thanks

Happy with my crew and no more are due xx

Try chlorpheniramine or Zyrtec, those should not make you sleepy.

    My Ovulation Chart
currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP

TTC #1 - swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!

Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic

Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

It's sold as a sleep aid in the UK. You don't need to use it though - cetirizine is also good and doesn't cause that kind of drowsiness

Hi Atomic - my DH uses cetirizine hydrochloride and they make me feel weird. I usually take Loratadine because it works in 20 mins (tight chest/wheezing) and zero side effects. Is this one ok?

In Australia and the UK it's marketed differently and Benadryl is actually cetirizine in other countries.

Any antihistamine on paper should sway pink. THe only reason I've ever recommended cetirizine in particular is because I have used it and found it made me really dry (sorry TMI).

I'm a freak, but I've found my reaction to different AHs varies immensely. Most of them have zero effect at any dose. Promethazine (prescription in many places) used to help me with nausea, but I quickly built a complete tolerance to it. Chlorpheniramine is the only AH that actually works like an AH for me, but even it doesn't dry me out much. Psuedoephedrine is the only drug that really dries me up
