PCOS, Breast-feeding, long cycles, TTC blue

posted in my personal plan too but i may be running on borrowed time so i would like many opinions if possible on this.

Had my 3rd daughter in october 2015. Period after birth in January, went on birth control unsure if we were going to have one more..I went off Nexplanon April 27th. i had a period May 22nd, very light..probably lightest period ive ever had in my life. lasted 7 days. Got a positive (solid) smiley on clearblue June 13th which was CD 23 for me..i had no flashing smileys at all which was kind of surprising to me but i have read lots of women have that same experience so i wasnt concerned..horrible awful pain in my ovaries so i figured i was for sure ovulating or popping cysts for sure..i had no period and so i did take a pregnancy test 14 DPO (if i even o'd) and it was negative. took one again 15 DPO and 16 DPO..all negative. So not likely that im pregnant.

Tonight when i wiped i had very obvious and copious EWCM...definitely not semen. I am on CD 47, ive had no period i dont even know if im ovulating despite the positive OPK...I am still breastfeeding but have been supplementing strongly for the last 3 weeks most days she has more formula than breast. When trying to concieve my last baby we tried for 6 months after a tubal reversal and nothing was happening so RE put me on clomid and i got pregnant that cycle. He suspected at the time with some obvious signs (hair loss, cystic acne, irregular periods and probably anovulation, history of gestational diabetes) that i had at least a mild form of PCOS...

Wanted to make sure you had all the info before i ask:

chances i ovulated last month at all? as in, can you ovulate and not bleed? what about while breast feeding i think ive read thats exactly how some women get pregnant while breast feeding not realizing they were even fertile? chances im ovulating now and my cycle just reset itself WITHOUT a period? I dont want to waste money on an OPK this month yet if its not even possible im ovulating...i have been on the blue sway/plan a few months now so glad to see its probably working i just dont know what is going on with my body right now LOL...i am also extremely tired and hyper emotional today...in the past this happened when i was getting positive OPK's while TTC my daughter but doc said my symptoms suggested i wasnt ovulating..symptoms my estrogen may be running high and that may be what i have the sudden EWCM?

So, unfortunately, there isn't a way to know for sure outside of certain testing. You might have to bite the bullet and at least temp or buy the OPK afterall. EWCM is at least a good sign something must be happening, but women can have that at different points in their cycle.

But yes, you can ovulate and not bleed (especially with a long cycle); you can bleed without having ovulated, too!

Here is what I wrote in the custom forum for others who have the same question.

You can't ovulate if you are not having periods, but you will release that first egg before you have a period, because first comes egg, then comes period!!

I can absolute, totally, completely 100% assure you that this is the case and that it's possible to get pregnant that way because I got my 4th boy that way!!! never had a period (well I did, but then it went away again for several months), caught that first egg!!

You did not O 23 days ago. That did not happen because AF did not come 14 days later. But you CAN be ovulating NOW and then have AF arrive in 14 days.

Does all that make sense???

If you ovulate, you get AF. If you don't get AF and you aren't pregnant, you didn't ovulate. (even if you got a positive OPK!!)

In a very long cycle, you may have bleeding without ovulation that isn't true AF (because that only comes after ovulation). This is called breakthrough bleeding and happens when estrogen levels drop. But it can still sort of "reset" hormones and start a new cycle anyway.
