I apologize if this has been clearly answered - I couldn't find anything in searchI'm in the TWW, just started attempting to sway, and wondering how strict you should be with diet? When is the most important time to be very rigid with your diet?

Eating during TWW?
Do the best you can to be strict all cycle long. That being said, it's crucial to stay strict until 7-9dpo. The best time, and the usual time, for cheats is right around AF.

I believe I read that you should stay as strict as you can just like any other day in case you didn't end up conceiving so you don't ruin your sway for the next month.

Yes, but you have to have cheats to stick to the diet long term! The best time for cheats is right before AF is due and when AF arrives. Waiting until after 9dpo to allow for implantation to occur to have a cheat is best. Trust me, progesterone will work to increase your appetite during the 2WW to make it hard to stay strict. Just do the best you can and try not to undo your hard work. If you do fall off the wagon, just pick the diet right up again.
You never know how long you will be on the diet before conceiving. Having some planned cheats every now and then make staying strict much easier to do!!

Since we have seen best results with 12 weeks or more on the diet, and 2-4 weeks has been disappointing (even when people were quite strict) I urge everyone to stay strong on diet even in the 2ww. Going off and on diet is only going to undo at least some good from the diet during those 2 weeks.
That having been said, we have some data that indicates it may be helpful to remain low in blood sugar until the baby is implanted, so if you need a cheat meal or day, try to put it NOT in the week after O, but in the following week, the one leading into AF if you can.!!! Thanks all! Is there a reason why keeping blood sugar low helps in the tww? Is that for a girl or just ttc in general?

Some of the best data we have (in fact, the only thing ever witnessed firsthand in a lab) is that XX develop better in lower glucose environment, XY in higher glucose. We don't KNOW that keeping blood sugar low actually translates to lower glucose in your repro tract, but we are operating on that assumption based on some stuff that Dr. Shettles had uncovered regarding using glucose test strips with EWCM as a way to pinpoint ovulation.
So since XX are basically floating free in the tubes and uterus till about 7 DPO it just makes sense to try and keep blood sugar low during that time.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
