Does anyone know why you can't use preseed after it has sat out in the applicator for more than 30 minutes? What happens to it, and why is the rest of the tube fine to sit out? I don't get it. Finally, last time we used it, too much went into the applicator, so I squished it back in the tube (from the applicator, using the plunger). Does that ruin the rest of the tube?

Hmm - it may be that it's exposed to the air and that could possibly cause microbial growth? Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about it - it has preservatives in it that inhibit microbes.

Do you think squeezing it back in could hurt the rest of the tube? It wasn't exposed to air at all at that point. The applicator screws on, and then you squish the tube to add the preseed to the applicator. I squeezed it too hard, and too much went in the applicator, so I pushed it back in without pulling the applicator off.
Oh well. It's all I have, so I guess I will probably use it anyway? I didn't read that part of the directions before I did it, or I would have just put the excess in the garbage.Last edited by Hobbermittens; January 8th, 2012 at 03:22 PM.

I would totally use it! I really would. I think it is perfectly fine to do so. I think eveyrone is so paranoid about lawsuits that they put all manner of crazy instructions on things trying to limit legal liability.

I called the pre-seed manufacturers, and the they told me the only reason you shouldn't leave it out in the applicator is because the moisture could evaporate, causing it to not be as moist as it should be. She also said it didn't matter if some went back in the tube from the applicator.

Good question. I bet it would sway closer to pink if it got REALLY dried out? We need a guinnea pig to try it out!
