I plan on temping when we start TTC to pinpoint ovulation. I have never temp. before in the past. Any advice with help greatly. Like how far in advance did you temp. before TTC? I am on birth control right now so I am not sure when I should get off of it and start temping.

I would think being off BCP first will make temps more accurate.
Some hard fast rules of temping:
-try to take your temp within the same 30 min. time period each morning. Myst be after at least 5 hrs. of consecutive sleep.
-When you're first starting out, you should take them from CD1 on...when you get used to it, you can just temp duirng your fertile phase to make it easier
-alchohol, being sick, can alter temps, so take note of that on your chart.
-Use a BBT thermometer, not a regular one...although you prob. know that. They are availble everywhere.
-Taking Charge of your Fertility is an AWESOME book on BBT. FertilityFriend.com also has a great free tutorial on tracking BBT.
-Once your temp has risen, yo've ALREADY o'd. So if you're trying to do cut off or 0+12, you need to temp for 1-3 months first to track down that date WITH all your supps, b/c those may alter your cycles.
Whew. That was alot! Good luck on your TTC journey! I pray you get you DG!and

I'd give it at least 1 cycle before TTC, more if you're able... just so you get used to the methods and so temping itself is less stressful. Then, when it comes to TTC, you don't need to obsess over how to "tweak" a temp to make it more accurate if you don't time it quite right or if something else comes into play such as sleep deprivation.
The longer you do it, the more likely you are to see patterns in your "normal" temp shape... but saying that I still get weird cycles even though I've been temping for ages!

I *ASSUME* for myself that doing it all (diet, supps,, temping, etc) would make them the most accurate and consistent. IDK is losing or gaining weight will alter temps or not?

Thank you! I think I will start everything at once so I can get a more accurate reading.

Gaining and losing weight 100% CAN alter your BBT because you have less/more insulation, and that is why you should take it with a big grain of salt and not despair if your temps are higher or lower than people on another site say they "should" be.

Would it be pointless to temp while I am on the pill still?

Yes, the pill inhibits your normal hormones that affect your temps and you usually don't ov while on the pill so temping wouldn't tell you anything useful
