Papp a / Free Beta HCG
Hi, I just got back my first trimester screening results. They came back positive as expected. I got positive results with both previous pregnancies (two boys) and ended up doing CVS both times. Both kids are healthy however both times I was diagnosed with placental insufficiency and boys were born tiny. Is there a link between papp a/free beta HCG and gender?
Here are the previous results:
My first DS:
Papp a 0.31 MoM
HCG 6.49 Mom
1 in 87 for down syndrome
Second DS
Papp a 0.29 MoM
HCG 5.33 MoM
NT 1.3cm
1 in 44 for down syndrome
This pregnancy
Papp a 0.66 MoM
HCG 2.08 Mom
NT 1.2 cm
1 in 167 for down syndrome
This time the results little different (not as bad) but I was still recommended CVS, which is booked for next Monday. I'm hoping this could be a girl? Has anyone had similar situation?
Couple more weeks and I could know the gender. I almost don't want to crush my my dreams. I want to keep dreaming of a girl just a little longer.

There is a small link and it's if both hormones are above 1.0 it is slightly more likely to be a girl, but it's not a strong indicator. If one is above and one below there is no correlation with gender.

I have, over the years, encountered several dozen pink swayers who just inexplicably were not getting pregnant. Invariably, these were the strictest of swayers, doing the most intense diets,...
