Any info ladies.
Hi All,
there is very little research in the area i am about to discuss. I have had 13 pregnancies to date with 3 different partners and i have had losses with each partner, but i have given each at least one son. I believe my losses are all daughters. I had an accidental surprise BFP recently which again ended in a miscarriage. This time i made sure the baby was tested and low and behold a perfect baby girl, no reason for the loss could be found. Does anyone else know of any hormone or requirement of an XX foetus over and XY between the weeks of 6 - 9 gestation which is when all my losses have been. They always follow exactly the same pattern and i always feel that they are a girl in the same way i have always known when i was carrying a boy. I am of course devastated as i am now 40 and the chances of getting a perfect baby girl at my age were slim anyway, but to have lost yet another one is devastating. I have been put on Thyroxine and claxane, deltaparin which was fine for my boys but made absolutely no difference this time. I really do believe there is some chemical or hormonal imbalance that means i cannot keep my girlies and i would love for some input from you ladies, especially those of you who have done lots of research into this. My consultant who has been treating me for the last 20 years and knows how much i wanted a daughter is now retiring and has written me the most lovely personal letter expressing his sadness that he was unable to make this happen for me and give me at least 1 daughter, which is lovely but does not really help. He says he does believe this maybe true in some women and especially since treating me. Any thoughts would be welcome.

I am so sorry Jen.
As far as they know, there is no known reason why people cannot carry girls. That's not saying that there isn't, just that there are known reasons why women have trouble carrying boys sometimes, but no known reasons why people miscarry girls.
Weeks 6-9 is a very common time for losses. Feelings, intuition, and symptoms do not predict gender. I think you have just had bad luck (or good luck really) that you were able to hang on to the pregnancies that just happened to be boys and probably had some boys and some girls in your losses. 140-160 boys are conceived for every 100 girls.!!! Hi Jen, I'm so sorry that you've had a really rough time :-( (I know I'm not really qualified to give advice on this, but just for interest sake) I've had a few friends over the years that were having many miscarriages. It turns out that they all had auto-immune diseases, food allergies and intestinal parasites - so the body's immune system was in over drive attacking the foetus. They saw holistic doctors (MD with naturopathy qualifications). One friend who finally had a successful pregnancy after many miscarriages (same stages as yours) got rid of her parasites, changed her diet but still had blood test markers for autoimmune disease. So she started taking Tumeric daily as it's a powerful anti-inflammatory and got pg! She still takes it during pg. Many OBG recommend taking asprin for women TTC who have autoimmune - but for me that is a little risky - I liked the sound of the turmeric better. BTW hypothyroid has strong links to autoimmune disease. Usually Hashimoto's which is generally caused by a gluten allergy ( you have to stay away from it ALL together with no cheats to get over it). Most MDs don't know about it - unless you see a holistic MD. I hope this is useful. All the best for you TTCs xxx

thanks girlies,
Keep any ideas and advice coming i really appreciate it. I have e mailed a couple of Drs who specialise in recurrent miscarriage, Sobian Quenby and Jan Brosens, but as yet have heard nothing, but as its so close to Christmas i probably won't hear anything until next year now, but of course i will share any interesting info on here. I just am struggling with being so close to my dream and knowing it was a perfect girl is hard to take. I wish i had some answers.

Please don't take herbs, spices, or aspirin on your medications. It would be a very bad idea.
I do think a gluten free diet may help and we have had some people have success for pink on gluten free diets.!!! Questions?? Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

i have been invited to attend her clinic. I am not sure how i will fit this in, but i will and i will let you all know. She will test for natural killer cells in the uterus, but is also doing some research for ladies with multiple losses which seem to show that some of us have a longer fertile window than we should and therefore get pregnant when the uterus is unable to support the pregnancy as it is the wrong time in the cycle. The women who suffer this often seem to be super fertile, which is me, I will keep you all posted,xx
