    Testosterone and TTC pink?

Right - this might get a wee bit confusing, so bear with me. I'm a total sway novice and I'm only in the build up! I'm starting to cut my calories, fat, salt and meat in take so I don't get too shocked when I really start. This week I've been eating all the foods that will be off-limits soon, saying goodbye for a while (its been quite sad!! all the xmas food I can't have..!)

    anyway, to my question;

I have PCOS - so high levels of testerone, which sways blue, I take metformin and will be needing clomid (sways pink) - trying to lower my test. too with the diet, so all sorted there *hopefully* in trying to maximise my sway chances.

But what about my OH testosterone - our Gp suspects he has low testosterone levels, but my OH is too much of a chicken to go for the blood tests (lol) - how much does his levels matter? My OH smokes, drinks tons of coffee and generally does NOT eat healthy (lots of salts, ready meals, etc as he is too lazy to make a sandwich and bring it) - how much does this affect our sway chances?

Those are all pink-friendly things, so I wouldn't worry about that!

If you have PCOS, you need to be careful on diet http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-...ar-issues.html

The funny thing about my PCOS is that diets that are normally effective for women with PCOS isn't effective on me at all - in fact, the last one I tried, which was, accoring to my doctor, THE diet to do for PCOS saw me gaining 2 lbs in the first week despite sticking to it religiously.

Anyway, I do know from experience that skipping breakfast completely isn't a good thing for me. Keeping in mind that atm I'm only trying out various ways to lower my calorie in take and I'm not on the LE diet yet. I'm not very tall and I've got a good 30 - 40 lbs I can loose without being in danger of becoming underweight.

I don't smoke, never drink alcohol, don't drink coffee and tea, except for green tea - but I do drink quite a bit of pepsi max.

I've started a spread sheet to keep track of my calorie intake and as far as I can see I've kept it at around (so far) at just under 1200 kcal, which I think is OK? It is evening here, but knowing me I'll probably have a wee bit of chocolate while watching the X factor (guilty pleasure, I admit!)

I'm still not quite sure how much potassium and protein is al right, but at the moment I'm just trying to figure out portion sizes and eating intervals to keep my blood sugar stable and what I've done today (despite not being a good day as my food has been quite unhealthy) seem to have been ok.

Interesting!!! Can I ask what you do have success with??

Skipping breakfast is no magic bullet, if you can't do it, you can't do it. It's just something that may help for some people.

Pepsi Max is ok but the ginseng in it may sway blue??

I would rather you were above 1200 cals. 1200-1500 is as low as I want anyone to go.

Can you do exercise? That will help with both the PCOS and the weight loss.

Choc is allowed on LE Diet but may not be the best idea for your PCOS.

GO easy on the green tea! this has more caffeine than black tea and sways boy. As a side note, I drank a lot of green tea when I conceived my boys, so I would have to agree with the research on that one. Switch to peppermint if you can, or decaff tea if you must have a hot drink but want to avoid caffeine. Although atomic has written a few times about doubting caffeine sways...

I didn't know there was ginseng in pepsi max!? Is Coke zero better than?

Well, funnily enough the one thing that did work for me is a diet that shouldn't work for PCOS! I lived with my mother in law, and she really can't cook, bless her heart. Don't get me wrong, I love her to death - but she really can't cook.

Her meals primarily consisted of white pasta with tinned tomatoes tuna or mozzarella. Eggs with potato wedges, bacon or fish finger sandwiches. She rarely cooks meat and when she does its either bacon (= 2 rashers) or mince beef (half lbs for 6 people) or fish fingers.

I did of course make my own breakfast and lunch - primarily regular cereals and skimmed milk for breakfast and cheese sandwiches for lunch, occasionally soft cheese or cheese/ham. Tuna salad with salad cream if I was feeling really festive!

I lost so much weight over very little time without it even being intentional. For some reason it worked! I've tried low calorie intakes before without it working at all.. My OH is always joking he's gonna send me on vacation to his mums to shed the pounds

I do quite a bit of exercise - I walk to college every day, which is 2 miles each way, regardless of weather. I do yoga and pilates, although I'm putting the pilates on hold as that builds a lot of muscle. I do quite a bit of skipping (as I can do that in living room) and I got a book with lots of good fat burning exercises that doesn't build muscles. So in total I probably do about 3 hours of exercise one way or the other per day.

With the green tea I have maybe one cup a day. I do have a herbal tea that is caffein free. Its from Pukka and is a morning one. Doesnt take very nice, but its a descent cup to wake up on. Especially as I usually end up chucking it all down in one go anyway :P

Ah,my mother in law is just the same, I love her to pieces but HOLY COW. It's bad. They all think I'm picky but I'm really less picky than they are, I just don't like gross food. They are from North Dakota so things like salad and Chinese food is super exotic to them LOL.

yes, you're right that type of diet should not work for PCOS, but hey, as long as you're eating less, that can help with PCOS!

Your exercise level is fantastic! Keep it up.

I do not believe normal caff intake sways at all and I have a study that shows it. The original idea that caff swayed blue was based on the premise that calcium sways pink and caff. makes your body excrete massive amounts of calcium. They've since debunked the idea that caff makes calcium leave your body and I don't think calcium sways pink anyway. Caffeine is fine, but I agree wtih the PP that green tea is not the best option, I'd do coffee or soda pop instead.
