I personally don't think it's safe if you're taking it only for swaying purposes or to try for multiples.
Clomid acts on your estrogen receptors and can really mess up your hormones long term, hence why there's a lifetime limit on how often you can use it and why most doctors prefer you to try naturally for awhile before prescribing it. Not to mention the potential side effects of the clomid itself (cysts, thinned uterine lining resulting in miscarriages, psychological effects, etc).
To each their own, however. You have to decide how much risk you are willing to take.

I think monitoring lowers risk if taken for multiple cycles. I also take a baby asprin E3D to offset the affects of clomid on the lining and so far my lining is still great. The 2 big concerns I can think of with clomid are OHSS, which is unforeseeable but lowered somewhat by monitoring and also low risk with clomid unless you happen to be especially sensitive to it. Also, what was previously mentioned about hormones but taking it for a few short months is unlikely to cause issues. I am planning to talk to my doc if we don't conceive this cycle about basically- what now? Because even the manufacturer recommends moving on to something else if you haven't conceived in 3 cycles. But I don't think trying it out for a few months will be an issue. If it was they wouldn't give it out like candy lol
