    freaking out a bit....

We have been DTD every night since AF. Used a tube of Rephresh last night. Had a possible faint fade in opk? Not as dark as usual. We DTD using sylk positive opk this morning. Checked my ph at noon out of curiousity and it was as alkaline as it could be. I immediately paniced and used a tube of Rephresh. Probably killed anything that was left I am guessing. Not sure what to think now?

I wouldn't worry, I'm sure those sperm would have been long gone from where the Rephresh goes by then!

I guess I was surprised that my ph had changed so drasticly when I used rephresh the night before. Trying not to obsess but not doing a great job at it.

Ok, all that happened was that you got a big burst of EWCM that is alkaline and it hasn't reacted with the RepHresh, and that's what you happened to test. EVERYONE'S EWCM is alkaline around O, including people that go onto conceive baby girls. The sperm, both X and Y, need some alkaline EWCM to survive in. Don't worry about your pH, last night when you DTD it worked to lower pH and kill off some sperm, then you got the EWCM which has prob. sheltered some of the remaining sperm and helped them survive the second round of RePhresh.

I know it's really hard to unplug from the cult of low pH, but it is very very unlikely that X sperm "like" low pH and Y sperm "like" high pH when ALL sperm survive best in pH that is in the 7's. You have every chance in the world at a baby girl.

Imagine mixing two substances together (think of a drop of food coloring in water). Unless you stir them together, it will take some time for the food color to disperse through the water. That's all that happened in this instance. Some EWCM came through and you just happened to test right then. The RepHresh hadn't reacted with it yet. That's actually GOOD becasue it can help shelter some sperm and the sperm NEED some EWCM to make it to the egg.
