A Great Website for Figuring Out Nutritional Info

Whenever I make a new recipe, I manually figure out the nutritional content of the food by adding up the info for each ingredient. Today I happened upon this website:

    http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php

I just wrote the ingredients and amounts in the box, put in the number of servings, clicked "Analyze Recipe" and presto - I got a full nutritional info label for my recipe! I couldn't believe how accurate the analyser was figuring out all my different measurements of ingredients (some were in cups, some in grams).

Now if only my recipe was something girl friendly, but alas I was making pesto with all the fresh basil I have in my garden. One of my absolute favourite foods, and low in sodium the way I make it (only 117mg per serving), but it has a whole clove of fresh garlic in it, so I guess it's a no-no. Sigh....my whole house smells soooo good right now, and I can't eat it!

    Thanks for the tip!

I just made DH move across the room with his dinner because he's eating this gorgeous smelling spicy, garlicy pasta dish with chicken. It smells amazing!

That's when you have to freeze some (without the cheese) and save it for when you can eat whatever you want! Too sad to miss out on the home-grown basil! Yum!

Well, since this month I'm allowing myself one cheat meal a week (in order to keep my sanity after 3 months on the diet), I may eat some as a treat sometime soon....
