About to quit this diet... weight gain :(

I know I keep posting about this, but I'm so discouraged! Have been on the LE diet (vegetarian) for a while and on my second full week of cardio and got on the scales today... have gained a pound. I did cheat when my hubby and I went on a date this weekend, but it was nothing crazy. I feel like I shouldn't be gaining weight - but I'm eating a crazy amount of carbs, so maybe I'm insulin resistant.

I'm 116 (now 117...ha) and 5'4, so Atomic doesn't really want me to lose, but gaining?! ugh.

    Help!!!

Gaining weight and gaining actual fat are two completely different things. It's completely normal for your weight to fluctuate, especially in the first month of working out. You could be retaining water, etc. No cheat meal is going to pack on a pound of fat on the scale, I promise! I've been doing LE since January and my weight STILL fluctuates between two pounds. As long as you stay within your limits and enjoy your occasional cheat you'll do fine.

It is absolutely normal to have minor fluctuations in your weight that are nothing more than water or food in your stomach.

How about instead of quitting the diet, you quit weighing yourself. The diet sways with or without weight loss and I think you are overly focused on that.

Agree totally with Bella, for you to gain a pound of fat you would have to literally eat one entire package of butter in addition to whatever you burned off. and it is next to impossible to gain a pound of muscle if your protein intake is low. Please step away from the scale and keep doing what you are doing. 5-4 and 116/117 you should not lose anything anyway. Stay where you are. I got my daughter at 54 120 lbs.
