Oh, they can hardly help themselves. My advice is not to read the comments section in articles like these and DO NOT talk to reporters, even if they seem really nice.

Well I'm pleased that all of the women got what they wanted... BUT yet again GD is completely misrepresented which further drives mums (and dads) into thier own shame and reinforces this whole society imposed taboo surrounding GD and that 'a mother should be happy with what she gets when there are people who can't have kids blah blah blah', but 'we' (society) will think nothing of judging that mum and her 2 or 3 or more boys 'ohh you have your hands full' 'when are you trying again for a girl?' Etc. Etc. I guess it happens too for families with all girls but that is not my experience.

Thank goodness for this website and all the supportive and understanding women on it! X

Totally agree! We are all so aware of everyones feelings nowadays and know all about various psychological issues people face, yet gender desire and gd seems to be an acceptable thing to take a pop at?!

Atomic, I totally wish I had not read the comments at the end of the article. Wow, some people can be soooo mean.

Love having people who understand on this website

The article is kind of silly, but the comments on it are awful. I felt like crying for everyone who has ever experienced GD. I can't understand how so many people can snap that they should be grateful and love whatever sex they get with the implication that they are just throwaway babies if they don't turn out to be the desired gender.

Just remember, ladies, it's like hitting your thumb with a hammer. It hurts like the blazes but you would never say "I don't love my thumb" or say that you had it worse than someone who had thumb cancer or no arms or whatever. But it still hurts and that pain is REAL. Any of those people making comments on any of these articles, if they have a pigeon pair, or no children by choice or because they're not old enough to, or are happy with all one gender, they are LUCKY. They just haven't hit their thumb with the hammer, that's all. They should be more understanding.

And of course those who have had infertility struggles will not understand and we can be understanding of them as well (although I sometimes wonder if the people who comment are REALLY infertility patients or not). But MOST of the people you meet in life are lamenting SOMETHING that didn't go their way. No daughter/son, career didn't work out, marriage sucks, some dream that didn't come true (many of which from my perspective are really quite silly), and we should all give each other the benefit of the doubt and not "compare troubles" with each other because there's always someone who has it worse. I don't understand why it is ok to pick out this ONE thing that's ok to badmouth people on, when people seem to have so much sympathy for people who didn't win an Academy Award or an Olympic medal or promotion at work, etc, yk?

I remember when I started to tell my friend about my diet and "crazy plans" having ONLY a GIRL...their faces, their laugh...some said "I'm sure you'll have another boy, your face says BOY"...or "I cant believe you are doing all these bullshits, only men decides the sex".....so day by day, I stoped telling people what I'm doing...and hei, when I found out I'm pregnant absolutelly NOBODY knew until I found she is a girl, so I asked everyone to come for a dinner and I told them "we are having a girl"..not only they were surprised for me being pregnant after sooo many hollidays and a life without worries, but finding it's a girl, it was a shocked! )) My heart could explode, that happy I was...and this is what was for close friends...the rest of the people I know or neighbours didnt even knew I was pregnant until 9 months ))) (some) and all the others the day I posted a first picture with my girl on Facebook...everyone was like "is this your girl? Incredible..when were you pregnant" )))))) My satisfaction was UP UP UP....exactlly as I planned.

My family puzzle is complete now 💕
    Thank you Atomic! 😍

I'm so angry seeing the Shettles BS and other false tactics being spread even further! Couldn't the author have done an hour of research looking for factual info? I just knkw thousands of women will read that article and follow the directions and then many will further perpetuate incorrect swaying myths! Arghhhh!

    My Ovulation Chart
currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP

TTC #1 - swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!

Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after removìng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic

Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

I know, right?? And of course they have the luxury to pick and choose the women who did get their desired gender instead of all the many of us sitting here with 2-3-4 or more Shettles opposites.

You know, just to wax a little philosophical here, what I am choosing to take away from these type of articles is just to keep in the back of my mind, when I read some similar article obviously spun to make people look nutty nutkins, that maybe there is a lot more going on than is represented in some sort of fantastical article and maybe it's just better to extend others the understanding that we wish we would have been.
