They do. They detect luteinizing hormone in your urine, which tends to spike ("LH surge") right before ovulation. They aren't 100%, you can miss the surge by not testing at the right time or you can sometimes have enough LH to give you a positive OPK and not actually ovulate. But generally, they work well.
I've always used cheap strips like wondfo. They have been very reliable for me. If you use strips or any line OPKs though, it's important to know that they aren't positive unless the line is as dark or darker than the control line.

One attempt when you get a positive OPK is usually recommended for pink swayers.

There are different DTD recommendations for swaying pink. The go-to is every 4 days after AF leaves town, which will get you in with one attempt in the fertile window. For higher chances of conception, do E4D then one attempt at positive OPK.
Definitely invest in the internet cheapies (ICs)! GL!

I have the Clearblue Digital.
It worked for me - we tried for years no success.
Then 2 cycles with Clearblue and we got pregnant (sadly ended in MC)
Am back to trying now, and 3rd cycle with OPK

I personally prefer the Wondfos; while there is a learning curve and they're not quite as "no-brainer" as the Clearblues are supposed to be, I find the Clearblues are misleading in a whole different way and actually tend to create more confusion than they alleviate. Taking a month to learn the Wondfos is a good idea IMO. Clearblues are also super expensive and I find people end up using them too sparingly and somtimes missing O because they can't afford to test often enough.

I use wondfos too and they have worked great for me. I have caught my surge with a very clear positive every cycle since I bought them. I do them late afternoon or early evening. My only advise is don't be fooled by a faint line. I thought a faint line might mean that I would get a positive the next day or two but I have gotten a faint line even a week before an actual positive. My positives have always been very dark and look exactly like the sample of what a positive should be- same exact darkness as the control line. I love that they are so cheap so I don't have to feel bad testing more often. Good luck Boyshopping!

What GirlieCat said about lines is true. I almost always have a faint line on OPKs no matter when in my cycle I take them. Then I have one day of about halfway to positive before the true positive.
Don't take OPKs with FMU like you would a pregnancy test. It's better to wait, I usually get my clearest results in the early afternoon.
