Chances / Odds!
Hi Atomic - I hope you are well.
Question for you, we just started trying this month and BD was a day before very positive OPK.
I am 36 years old and am just wondering if after years of looking at this you would guess our odds of getting pregnant each month are on BD on positive (or day before) OPK and one attempt? We are a healthy couple and hubby 41
Obviously just a rough guess! Im impatient already and just started trying!
Thanks

Across the whole site, we have an average time to conception of 3 months. This is right in line with what those who aren't swaying have - 3-6 months average across the whole population.
If you'd like, give me a quick rundown of what you're doing to sway - not the diet stuff, but anyhting that could interfere with fertility - jelly, frequency, that sort of thing.

Thank you, even at my age? That’s great! Not doing any of the crazy things as don’t want anything to negatively affect fertility. Just loosely following diet, one attempt, folic acid, and exercise oh and lots of the mad things like a fertility spell, lavender, baby girl outfit and wooden spoon.
We conceived within 2 months when we got pregnant with my son

Your age is nothing! The "rule of 35" was based on this really old and totally outdated info dating back to the 1600's and for some reason medical researchers have never really bothered to go back and do new/better research (while they do research, it is nearly always in people who are already having fertility problems and NOT the population as a whole) Tons and tons of the women on this site, myself included, got pregnant easily between 35-40. Even between 40-43 we have pretty good results. I got my boys at 37 and 39 with the same amount of time to conception as my boys at 21 and 25. And my daughter, who I had at 42 (conceived at 41) only took me 6 months, still totally in normal range.
If you're ready to start doing things to boost fertility that's fine, but I would have you guys give the one attempt at least a couple months.

Also - is that still 3 months on average when trying for a girl? Obv we only BD ideally once for a girl in the month, does this not increase the amount of months it takes to conceive? Thanks, V

We have 3 months average time to conception for pink swayers.
While people do things that cut conception, we tend to drop those things early on.
One attempt at the right time really doesn't cut odds of conception. Men make enough sperm to get every woman who has ever visited this site pregnant in one shot. Of the many things people do for swaying, the one attempt (if had at the right time) is actually not something that harms your chances.

Okay great, thank you. Just to confirm you think best to have 1 attempt at first positive OPK?
Thanks, Victoria

To start with, yes. Then if you don't conceive with that, over time we will rethink it.

Atomic, this may sound crazy but I’ve been reading about moon phases… I have a ‘red moon cycle’ currently which I didn’t used to have. Meaning my period is coinciding with the full moon. From...
