Dating scan gender confusion
Hi, I’m 13+3 weeks.
I just had my first dating scan, and kind of begged the sonographer to tell me if it’s a boy or girl.
She did an initial potty shot which deffo showed something between the legs. And then she said “it’s a boy”. But then the long bit disappeared and kept reappearing. Then she said it was the umbilical cord between the legs.
She then checked blood flow to that area and said it’s a girl?
I’m so confused. Is it a boy or a girl? I really couldn’t tell myself because that “long bit” kept appearing/reappearing as she moved the scan.
I do have scan pictures but no pictures of the potty shot.
I’m so confused and don’t know whether to raise my hopes.
Thanks for any advice

I think also I feel disheartened because she kept changing her mind and wasn’t definitively sure.

No sonographer worth their salt should do a potty shot for gender at 13+3 weeks. That's a sign they do not know what they're talking about. Please don't listen to anything they told you as it is meaningless for gender.
Do you have a picture of the nub?

She was clearly not adequately trained in methods of determining gender at this gestation and was just guessing. Do you have a nub shot (baby from the side with the genitals visible?)

Dating scan gender confusion
Hi,
Oh that’s a shame I was really hoping she was right about girl because of blood flow.
Here’s my normal non potty shot pics:
I hope they’re useful.
Thanks

The nub is not visible in the top pic, that bulge I think is the leg bone.
Second pic is a little confusing to me, while I do see a long, pointed down nub which looks girly, at the same time it seems a little "stacked" to me which can mean boy. I'm sorry gotta go 50-50 on this, I wish I could be of more help.

Hi
Thanks for replying.
I think that downward nub is the umbilical cord between the legs.
I guess I’m back to where I started with not knowing the sex of the baby! I’ll have to wait for the next scan I guess!
Thanks for your help

It may be PARTLY the umbilical cord but the most bottom part looks like a downward curving girl nub to me. It is possible that the stuff on top of that is the cord, but I don't want to get your hopes up because the truth is we can't know for sure, and if it's a penis and testicles forming I don't want to tell you girl only to have you get really upset if it isn't.

I agree with Atomic. The tech never should have told you gender at this stage. I'm sorry she did that, it was unprofessional. The top pic doesn't show the nub and the bottom pic it looks there's nub there but it looks cut off as it just abruptly ends. The nub from what I can see does appear flat but again, it's not all showing so I can't say either way. Good luck, I hope you get the gender you're hoping for.

Atomic, this may sound crazy but I’ve been reading about moon phases… I have a ‘red moon cycle’ currently which I didn’t used to have. Meaning my period is coinciding with the full moon. From...
