I have some old hippy fertility book that claimed that starting period later in the day may be a sign of lowered fertility and starting in the morning may be a sign of higher fertility. I think it's interesting because when I was a teenager I had really irregular cycles and always started in the afternoon or evening, then about age 19-20 they became very regular started first thing in the morning, and stayed there for the next 20 years (during which time I conceived 4 boys) and then suddenly started coming in the evening when I was over 40 and there they've stayed. Conceived a girl getting AF in the evening. Just makes me wonder about it since so many boy/girl moms are having AF come at a different time of day when swaying.
That is interesting. I am trying to think back for myself. When I was younger (school aged) my cycles were crazy irregular, but at least I had them. I always started during the day... in school, completely unaware it was coming because as I said my cycles were crazy irregular. I remember once (wearing a pair of khakis I borrowed from a friend no less) I started as lunch time and had NO idea until there was a mess. #1 most humiliating experience of my life! Later, after my cycles got worse, it changed (assuming I had AF at all that is). I really don't know if it was night or morning that I started, I assume it was morning but I am not sure. I just know that when I went to bed- nothing but when I woke up the witch was in town. Since losing weight and finally getting more regular cycles I generally start late in the evening. So I guess I might be the exception? Seeing as the less fertile I am the earlier in the day I seem to start?? Curious to see if what I am doing to sway changes that...

It's just a guess about fertility - could be some other thing entirely, just interesting!!!
I think fertility is a continuum with "reduced fertility" on BOTH ends, one from being super thin and not making enough hormones, and the other from PCO and being overweight - which is really TOO many hormones. So I still think your experience fits in, thanks for sharing and everyone keep me posted about any of this.

Well... hmm... didn't expect this. I had a very small amount of spotting when I wiped last night and this morning nothing. I am cramping like crazy so I know it's coming though. Rarely do I have a true 13 day LP... usually when an old chart looks like 13 day LP that is because after 10 pm I count it as the next day for conformity's sake (If I go to bed I have no idea if I started at 10, 11, 2 or 3 so after 10 I round to the next day even if I am up past midnight). My last true 13 day LP was 6 years ago... Is there any way the diet or extreme exercise could be making my LP longer??

YES absolutely diet and exercise can make LP longer - because with PCOS your LP tends to be short, since your body uses up the raw materials it needs to make progesterone, on testosterone instead. When you diet and exercise, this helps your blood sugar, which in turn lowers T production, freeing up more raw materials for prog. production and normalizing LP.

So, in other words the diet and exercise really is lowering my T, then? I thought it'd take more time seeing as how it is recommended to be doing it for 90 days.

It helps with the blood sugar immediately. We honestly don't know what the interplay is between blood sugar, testosterone, and PCO symptoms.

The reason why we recommend 90 days is because that's what we've gotten best results with. Not because you don't see changes sooner. Changes do not necessarily = best chances at desired gender.

Well, *fingers crossed* I am doing enough to better my odds because we are going ahead with TTC this month. Already started my clomid. I honestly don't expect to get preg this cycle (hoping to but not expecting it). So, I may still get more time to continue the diet and exercise and such and better my odds even more. But as you know we are trying to get preg ASAP so no time to skip a perfectly good cycle. So far I have been on the diet nearly a month, exercise (as suggested that is) just over a week. So, I guess we will see
