Tracking cycle after removal of Mirena???
Hi All,
Today I had my Mirena removed, currently on CD65 from my last period (with Mirena in my cycles varied)
I would like to try and catch first egg after removal but obviously have no idea when I will ovulate. Am I best to do OPK tests daily from now?
I'm expecting I may get a removal bleed but as of yet I haven't had anything.
The only thing we will be doing is abstaining and this is the only issue I can see with not knowing when I'm going to ovulate

Why not do the every 4th day method? The abstain isn't getting great results and is recommended if you are a bit older (and I'm not saying you are, I just see that you have 5 children!). So dtd every 4 days after AF leaves town, will put you in with one attempt in the fertile window (whenever that may be) and you don't have to deal with OPKs. E4D is getting great results!

Hi Anchor - we are only trying abstaining as this is something we have never tried before. I'm 32 years old and hubby is 35 years old but he seems to think he has super sperms as with our boys we have always gotten pregnant in the 1st or 2nd month of trying...he seems to think he can sneeze and get me pregnant
I think we shall try to stick with abstain for a month or 2 and if we don't have any luck then change it to E4D.

You're not gonna be able to abstain, I'm sorry. That's not gonna work with coming off the Mirena. Abstain has not worked for us anyway.
What I'd have you do is one or the other of these things:
Start OPK right away and have DH do regular release every 2-4 days (don't do FR, by the time the egg shows up he will be shooting nothing but dust). Then have attempt at the first positive.
OR
Have unprotected sex every 4 days or every 5 days (4 days better odds of catching that egg, but may be slightly more blue friendly, 5 days better chance of pink, but lower odds of conception)

The reason why 35 and up shouldn't use abstain is not sperm count or conception, it's the health of the sperm and potential for birth defects/health issues with baby. BUT at 35 it's the age at which the risks only just start to rise and if HE"s cool with it, then it's totally up to you (although I do maintain it will be hard and stressful to include this and it hasn't worked anyway) One of our main issues with abstains in this sitch is that the husband rebels. So if it's the husband's idea, and he wants to try it, and you're informed of the tiny possibility of unhealthy sperm, then it's up to you.
I would have him release every 7th day though just to keep it from getting out of control.

I will be following your story! I plan to remove my mirena in Sept and I don't know what to expect (Im swaying pink as well). I've heard you can have some removal bleeding but then get an actual period later on. Did you decide if you'll do OPKs right away? I think I will but I'm worried it'll go on forever, lol!

Thanks all,
Coil removed on 5th started bleeding on the 7th and on day 3 of bleeding now so not sure if this is removal bleed or period.
I shall start OPKs once I stop bleeding, hubby is going to release every 7 days and go for abstain. If we aren't lucky to time it right then I think next time we will try E4Ds.
It was hubby's suggestion to abstain, he feels he can do it I'm happy to try it too.

So this month we went for abstaining (hubby wanted to try it) well it turns out he couldn't do 7 days lol so we ended up dtd every 6 days and maybe luck or fate but we had +OPK on dtd day.
This is how it went down
CD2 - DTD
CD8 - DTD
CD14 - DTD
CD20 - +OPK DTD with no big O for me
CD21 for me today and the agonising 2ww begins. I know it's not a big sway but we will keep everything crossed.
