Heartbroken over potty shots

I can see how the first one may look boy but if you exam the pic it is at a bad angle. The baby is not "mooning" you and is at an angle. But if you look at the tip it is very small and that could be the last of the "girl parts" going into position, my cuz says thats why gender is not guessed until after 18wks. (my cuz is a US tech and has 4 girls of his own, no boys yet) If pic 1 was at a better angle it would be a great classic hamburger.

Pic 2... My DS3 had 3 dots form in a triangle and I had some saying boy and some saying girl. After lots of research I noticed boys=triangle and girl=2-3dots in a line. You have 2 dots in a line but if the line in the middle would have shown up as a dot it would still be in a straight line with the others.

I am pretty sure your next US will say girl!

The unfortunate truth is though, that techs DO make mistakes and they're not all good. As a general rule I agree that it's usually best to trust the tech who sees stuff for 30 min. vs. a picture posted online. That having been said, I don't want to see you set up for heartbreak either so always keep it in the back of your mind that even with 100% it's a ... there is always the possibility for an opposite. (I'm not basing that on the pics, because I am not an ultrasound expert in any way - just generally good advice)

We have had the occasional tale of woe here where people were told one gender, even quite far along into gestation like 20 weeks or so, only to find out that they were having the other. A few of these even ended up in the delivery room before finding out!

I did not find Jena's response rude or insensitive, she was just trying to illustrate to you how seriously she was taking what she perceived as an inexcusable mistake. (and again, I have no clue if she's right or wrong) Sometimes those of us who answer a ton of questions every day have less time for sugarcoating and end up bit more of "straight shooters". I don't think she meant anything by it and she was trying to help you.

So - guard your heart but feel optimistic.

I've just emailed the place asking for a re scan I've not got a good enough reason to get it for free so I'll probably have to pay again xxx

I was told at 17 weeks that the clitoris is still very prominent in baby girls. Good luck, I hope this is your little girl xxx

That's not what my 2 boys looked like at all. I can't really tell what's going on in these pics so I won't venture a guess, but I'd trust the tech as it's her job and live video is so much better. But no ultrasound is 100% so I would try, as hard as it is to wait, to your 20 week and see what they say then.

FWIW I thought that lady's reply on IG was very insensitive. She shouldn't talk that way about a us tech she knows nothing about, and that "penis" she drew could be umbilical cord or something else, who knows from the angle, (yes maybe a penis) but just as a tech shouldn't say 100 % girl neither should a rude lady on a website based off one pic! She could have made her point more gracefully.

I actually think the reply was unnecessarily blunt too. The pictures don't look obviously boy or girl, certainly not like the last boy potty shot I got but then I wander if she was taking your nub shot into consideration too which although not entirely clear does lean boy. I think you need that scan. Good luck and I hope u get your dg, I know how hard hearing boy 3 is.
