15 Week US Wrong - 3 Lines Was A Boy!
I don't think I've actually ever posted on this forum, but I used to be a regular on the "Boy Swaying" boards. I've been lurking around here for a few weeks now... ever since we found out we are pregnant with twins in January! We've had 4 US to date... and I just had to let you all know about my US experience since this was the kind of info I was always looking for.
At 15 weeks 5 days we had our 3rd US... asked tech for gender and she kept going on and on about how it was too early and it would just be a guess, etc. We told her to write it down in an envelope for us. She wrote twin girls... but I told my DH from the beginning that yes both had 3 white lines but one of the babies had a longer middle white line than the other and it was very noticeable. As per this forum, I decided those US results probably weren't the most accurate b/c 1. the tech told me she was brand new 2. she took a potty shot of babies from so far back that both babies little butts were in the pictures...no close ups whatsoever. according to numerous sources, little boys can image as three white lines from far back.
Low and behold, yesterday we had another US at 19 weeks 4 days. Baby A was most definitely a girl... DH and I knew it immediately. 3 little hamburger lines sitting distinctly between her legs. Baby B shockingly had the infamous turtle... no hiding it whatsoever! The tech said he was showing off for us!
So here's what I've learned through all of this...
1. Baby boys may not be developed enough to show at 15 weeks yet (some develop into 16 weeks)
2. Baby boys can image as three white lines depending on positioning
3. Getting an experienced tech is very important. My doctor told me later that she asked the tech after we left our 15 week appt what she thought they were and the tech told her she was almost positive twin girls (even though she told us she wasn't sure). To say the least, our doc was surprised.
Anyway, just had to share! Best of luck to you all!Mom to three beautiful little girls -
Can't wait to see what God has in store for me next... maybe !!??!!??

Congratulations on your and ! How exciting! Mistaking a boy for a girl mostly happens when the image is taken too far back, but a good tech knows this and I'm sure Mocha your little babe is all girl.
